Crossbow shooting isn't archery, Satpal. I know that's a can of worms but I consider crossbow shooting akin to rifle or handgun shooting.
My interest is in the direction of traditional and instinctive shooting with a bow.
Incidentally, crossbow imports are a bit off a grey area here - tending towards verbotten.
Having said that there is atleast one Delhi based webite that sells pistol crossbows. Legally. Perhaps they are made locally or have an import licence.

No chakra/s,throwing knives on/in the turban or dagger/s in the waist band or a shield on his back:shock: Must have been lightly armed that day OT but I remember a Nihang on a horse being stopped at the Railway station in Delhi for travelling on a train without a ticket. The fellow declared that he did not need to buy a ticket as he had travelled in a bogey of a goods train while seated on his horse and so technically he had not travelled in a train but on his horse. So he did not need to pay for his ticket. Was ultimately fined for transporting a horse with out proper authorisation1.Spear

3.Kirpan

penpusher,
I remember the incident. He was taken before a magistrate and requested His Honour that if he was jailed the state should take good care of his horse. In the end, they let him off with a fine because he seemed serious about what he was saying and the whole incident had even the railway policemen who arrested him unable to control their laughter.

penpusher,
After seeing enough weaponry on a single individual(this was the pre rambo days) to start WW3, I was not going to check for throwing knives etc-'wide berth' was the operative axiom, dont even gawk!
That wiki reference was good-crocodiles, suicide soldiers?
That was an earnest appeal and solid reasoning, not to forget a classic syllogism about taking the fare for the horse!
Axx

Eljefe,
The info on Nihangs on wiki. is factually incorrect on a no. of points,The Akalis caused trouble for Ranjeet Singh though they also served his purpose from time to time.Infact Ranjeet Singh was made to undergo a token punishment of being tied to a pilllar, for straying from the path of Sikhism as understood by Akali Phoola Singh. Most of the Nihangs are addicted to bhang which they call 'sukha'.
Of the Nihang factions, the Budha Dal is the largest. It's leader at one time had been given the power of a licensing authority by Giani Zail Singh.
