Hi ngrewal,

Was lucky with the find and as for the hole in my pocket, quite big. But then there are certain guns that you just fall in love with. As for the pics will get it done by tomorow.

Hi,

Finally the scope has been purchased. Even before I could get some info to my friend he was at the gun shop and with the info of the rifle purchased one with the help of the gunsmith.

So I have now a Nikon 1.5-6X42 made in germany. Should arrive in less than a week. Hopefully no hassle at the airport....can't wait.

thanks for all the help guys.

I got the Nikon Monarch. A damn good scope. I would have put up some pics. wanted to do it after mounting on the gun, but alas, the mounts were wrong, so waiting to get the right ones and then put up some pics. I think infact it was you ai that told me to go for 15mm mounts. But the brno 2e needs 11mm mounts. No problem, will be going abroad soon so will replace them. Any way, will try and post some pics of the monarch tomorrow.

Great scope.

I'm sure Brno Model 2 uses 15mm mounts. Simply measure the top of the base with a good scale to find out. From the pics too, it seems 15mm. I'm no expert at firearms though.

I had a Sportsmatch mount but it is now reserved for someone else who got a Model 2.

Hi ai,

I have checked it and it is 11mm. It must be for one of the other brno models that it is 15mm. Maybe it is 15mm for either model one or two, mine is a 2e. Any way, I am enjoying the brno without the scope. damn accurate. Got a couple of pics for you. Will post again once it goes on the gun.

I stand corrected then!

The scope looks really good. Is it made in Germany as you expected earlier, or is the reticle German No-4?

Not in Germany, but made in japan. As for the german No. 4 bit, have not got a clue. Iam just beginning to learn about scopes. maybe you can explain...

You could find description of various reticle designs on the internet. German No-4 has the upper post thin, and the side and lower posts thick as in a duplex reticle. It is supposed to obscure less of the target.

You mentioned this is a new feild for you, so be careful when selecting scopes for spring airguns. Nikon does not make scopes rated for spring airguns. See other threads for more information on this issue.

Does your Nikon 1.5-6 X 42 have a 30mm tube.. it is a excellent scope but the parallax is set to 100 yards, you will not be able to get a tight grouping at 30-40 yards unless you are very careful with you eye placement.

Rimfire scopes have their parallax set to 50 yards approx.
