This site (IFG) is so cool

Posts that don't fit into any other category. If it's anything to do with guns, it probably doesn't belong here!

I've been here a while now...

Post by eljefe » Sun Nov 26, 2006 1:31 am

People,
I stumbled on Indians for guns as yahoo group and 5 posts later i felt like I've died and gone to heaven!
500 posts later, we have moved onto our own site,
and in the process here is what I have GAINED
a bunch of crazy friends in many senses of the word,
unnamed(for obious reasons):
a gent who has given my wife the impression that either he is a millionaire or owns a courier company-what with the outdoor books, catalogues and mags sent to me, not to forget the magnificent laguoile...
Overseas friends who would take the pains to trace down addresses and give recommendation/introductory letters, friends who volunteer to help out in searching for a particular part, send down machinists pics in response to a query, warn me against a particular load in order to ensure safety of life and limb-mine!
a nut who wakes up at 7 am on a sun morn to take this newbie out for a shoot at a 10m range with a match pistol
Another , who is so fast on the 'wallet 'draw that Ed Mcgivern would be put to shame
Someone who desperately searches around in the darkness of a moving car to pull out rubber lures and pass them to me while transiting delhi?
All these and more are people who I've never met till 15 min ago or on the web!!
In the process I discovered that the world is indeed a small place-Mehul, was a rediscovery Mack The Knife was a hometowner...
-All of them with a heart so large, that in any other condition, I would hospitalise them for an enlarged heart!!
More power to your elbow and God bless you all.

Sometime words don't do justice if we want to express our feelings in words...

So...

Bless you all and thanks to everyone for everything... :)

Asif,

Totally agree with you about the friendships amde here and on other forums. I have only a long list of positives about the many friends I have made here and I am certain that there will be many more.

A special and big "Thank YOU" to Abhijeet for starting this fantastic group and bringing us together.

Cheers!

Mehul

What a difference punctuation can make....

It's on Archery. Will courier it tomorrow and I will take it when we meet. Got a lot of reading to do, so this one can wait.

Asif I agree with you - I love this site. The sheer enthusiasm for firearms along with a genuine interest in the subject by members with few preconceptions or biases makes participation a joy. Couple that with a whole group of really fine people and it`s obvious why I keep returning.
Well said Asif !

Grumpy,
I dont know if this bonding is partly because of the 'persecution' we indian gunlovers are subject too.Other sites-"you have a 599? i have a 703 and a 1005 cal semi auto goose shooter with laser range finder and millimetric wave radar-2 of them in fact, so whats new?
You shot a kudu yesterday? I potted a doz markhor and a cape buff for tea-ho hum"
Out here, we seem to be battling many many odds (and oddballs) to keep this interest going.I guess this is what helps us bond better...Its the blend of the neophytes and the 'no hang up'old timers, which makes this site so comfortable. Thanks Abhijeet!

I must say this forum, God Bless it is a band of brothers I hope I shall meet someday maybe one click at a time. But i have felt such care and affection that I don't miss my brother anymore.

Please embarass Asif cause I suspect that he always hides his good nature and big heart, just like Mack The Knife does with a pretense of being bullet proof.

Actually may God make all of this wonderful brotherhood bullet proof and may peace and good will always surround them.

Regards,

Dev
