Want to import Sniper UTG L96 Replica airsoft gun.
Hi Guys,
I am so much interested in buying this replica of sniper rifle which shoots plastic BB's
I have contacted them and they are ok to ship to india.
Paying them is not the problem for me through any method. I can do both paypal or CC.
I have gone through all the threads here, that states u must have membership of Rifle association. which is costing 5000/- in pune PDRA.
1. Is this legal to import this replica.
2. does i really need a NRAI membership to import this gun

Firstly, you need any state membership to import a .177 caliber Air Gun. Need not necessarily be from NRAI.
If this is an Airsoft rifle, it can be imported without any membership. More than terming it as a replica, I would term this as an AirSoft toy

Does Airsoft guns come under fire arms.
And if it comes all that rules you discuss here apply to airsoft guns also.
Then i will have to be member of rifle association.

If the product looks same as of original and also resembles the weight and dimensions it is called as REPLICA.More than terming it as a replica, I would term this as an AirSoft toy
also definitions of airsoft guns are not that simple , dont just jump to conclusion.
some countires have really strong laws regarding airsoft gun replica.
rules of some countries are listed here
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airsoft#Wo ... egulations
unfortunately rules of airsoft guns in India are not yet created.
so don't just jump to conclusion that any body can import airsoft gun replica and rob some gold store showing M14 or sniper in Hand.

Thanks for the kind words braveheart.pravinonline";p="64179 wrote: ...so don't just jump to conclusion that any body can import airsoft gun replica and rob some gold store showing M14 or sniper in Hand.
If you are really so smart, why post this question in the first place?
And if wikipedia is your answer, what exactly ARE you searching for?
As for the definition of 'Replica', I agree that you are right in some sense, but I did mention that such stuff is nothing more than a toy as I would term it. You want to import it and rob a gold store.. thats your problem!
.. Guess I am sorry for even replying to your post! All the best...

I am not trying to become Braveheart here... you are the one who is trying to become braveheart here by terming it as Toy.Thanks for the kind words braveheart.
You might have some GAS gun or some rifle, that doesnt make you abhinav bindra.
If you have GAS gun , might even needs some Farting in it.
Terrorist will term your Gun as TOY by showing AK 47 and rocket launchers which they have.
so please don't go on borders with your 5mm pellets.
If you don't have any information importing a Airsoft replica don't bother answering to my thread.
Best Regards

Re: Want to import Sniper UTG L96 Replica airsoft gun.
hi,
I know of people who have ordered airsoft as well as replica from abroad and got it shipped to them. He did not have any license etc....
The shipper was friendly so mentioned toys on the invoice. If your seller mentions guns etc, it MAY raise eyebrows at customs.
cheers,
rishu
/ i have multiple electric high power airsoft 1:1 replicas bought from india itself, great fun shooting cans without the worry or serious damage.

Pravin,
Did not want to jump into this. Please read the reply posted by TenX. He was actually trying to clarify your doubt and in no way was he trying to make fun of you. You actually could have got a major clue from his post. By terming your replica as an airsoft toy and getting your shipper to do the same would only help you getting it released from the customs if confiscated. And Pravin, comparing airguns in any caliber with airsoft guns...............Also, it's not that I know TenX personally or that we have been friends for ages, he has achieved more in shooting sports than you probably ever will.
