Tirths,

I too agree with Yash. The RWS 52 and the stutzen are worth giving a thought about. Both of them seem to be good bargains and with the additional 10% off, seem to be a steal. Have shot with the 52 and the experience was good. No idea about the stutzen though. It has awesome looks for sure.

Dear comrades,
Greetings!
As I am waiting for my shooting training to start, I thought of buying an airgun to start practicing. I stay in an apartment in MUmbai & hence there is no scope of buying an airgun with iron pellets. Instead I visited a shop wherein I saw air pistol & air rifle CH0581AI & CHO581BI. It had 6mm BB plastic pellets. Is it good to start with or should I leave it for kids? It had all accessories like walther scope etc. Pls hlp!

Did some research on google n its CHO581. It is a replica of airsoft pump action shotgun. I think its for kids. Pls correct me if I am wrong. Thanks in anticipation.
Cheers,
Rup

Dear Shadow.

You should still go in for a good Air Gun, even though you stay in an apartment. If you can get 8 to 10 meters for practice, it should do great, provided you use a good pellet trap target. A lot of people I know, who stay in apartments, own air guns which they practice on the terrace or elsewhere.

The plastic BB shooter is not exactly an air gun, but more of an Air Soft gun. Its good for displays :) You will not get any fun out of it after a week, and no accuracy or anything to do with serious competition training. also doubt the quality of the Walther scope that you mentioned... :)

Dear Tenx,
Thanks a ton for your prompt response. Am simultaneously surfing pyramydair. Which one should I pick as a total fresher & should I order it from them or will I get it in Mumbai? Also Abhijeet has mentioned beautifully on types of airguns etc. but what is the idle choice for a fresher to pick both in pistol & rifle category. Their website is confusing me as each piece is beautiful than other.

Cheers,
Rup

There are quite a few discussions on which is the best air gun to buy. Everything depends on your budget and intended purpose.
I hope you are aware that you will need a club membership to import one from PyramdAir :)
A sturdy HW77K or the later version or the new TX series are good, among that variety. If you need something for competitions sake, then a PCP type gun is good.
Suggest you list down the purpose(s) of this buy first :)

Hmmm...budget is around 5-7k for an airpistol. Is the budget good enough?
As I see it, rifles are ranging from 15k & above. Whereas I was looking at spending 10-12k.
Looks like I will have to wait in which case, as am planning to apply for membership once am done with my shooting training which will be 25th Jan.
Wow PCP are overshooting my budgets :(

Purpose is to practice with airguns until I become member of MRA and lay my hands on pistol.

Currently the objective is to get a sturdy hand, gain concentration, adjust sight, correct stance et.

Also I am a left-hander (just in case if this info is necessary).

Thanks people. I am definitely coming closer to the light. Have actually actioned pursuing my obsession & have sprung into action.

Cheers,
Rup

Shadow.
There is a huge difference between the air guns available in India and those used on competitions. To develop a good stance, even a dummy pistol should do good. But to get the shooting technique correct, you will have to do with something that can help you determine your accuracy levels, which in turn will help you improve.
I would suggest that you get your membership, and hold on for a while before you import a good Air Pistol, like the Steyr or something like that.
In case you want to get into .22 Standard Pistol and Free Pistol events, you can still use the Air Pistol for home practice and use the club pistols for the match/range-training. Some time in the future, and after you get a license, you can buy yourself a good competition grade pistol.
The Indian makes of Air Pistols are lousy, inaccurate and with very less power. I would strongly suggest you leave the Indian Air Pistols for the Channel V VJs :)

And dont try to work on both the rifle and pistol. Better to take one at a time and master it completely, especially from the competition angle. Suggest you drop the Air Rifle idea too, and spend a hundred bucks for a piggy to collect all you can spare for a good Air Pistol. in the long term, you will not regret this :)

... All the best...

Thanks a ton Tenx.

Really appreciate your inputs & guidance.

I will go after pistol to start off with. And as suggested by you first get my membership & get well acquainted with nuances before going for the kill :)

Rup

Hi All,
I was planning to get IHP .22 the day before bangalore was witnessed bomb blast. That really put brakes on my purchase. Now my quest started considering newbie and limited budget which model do you suggest IHP .22 or Canon .22 .
Cannon being cheap how it will fare against IHP? where can we purchase and what is the model number?
