+2 schools and colleges should have no dirth of pro supporters, all these antis were mostly grazing somewhere on 26/11 eve so they can be left at what they do best.
Some posters should be circulated among college crowd and on virtual communities like orcut. That will create some space for a more direct approach.
Later.

Re: "Anti" posters @ ADCP (Licensing) Delhi
Moderatos & All,
My suggestion would be:
If we all IFGians in Delhi, take out a procession with banners and posters in prominent place like India Gate or Jantar Mantar or the place decided mutually. And if we will be able to call print and electronic media to cover this, will be of great impact to the people and the Govt. I am sure that some of the IFGians definitely would have contacts with print and electronic media..
I can get the posters made at the lowest rates, and can bring along some like minded people to the procession. If we put a small ad in the paper regarding the procession, I hope we will be able to add many like minded people in order to attend the procession..
I can contribute to this noble cause, up to my optimum limit..
Please pardon me if I have gone over board...
Best Regards..

The signage contract of IGI is with Times OOH. The charges are typically from 4.5 lacs to 7.5 lacs per month subject to the site & quantities.eternalme";p="61557 wrote:Can someone enquire the cost of putting a display near departure / arrival gates at IGI ?
I agree that as a take-off lets start with posters and social networking sites like Facebook. It is a very effective medium to spread the word across. Also Abhijeet's write-ups can be sent to the press & if they find the content juicy enough (in media language) they will definitely print it.
We can look at calling a press conference too. The cost will be around 3 lacs. But one needs to have connections with the media to attend as there is no point of hiring a PR firm at this stage.
Also there are still some or the other march / rally taking place in Mumbai. We can take that opportunity to voice our cause.
My personal opinion is to avoid targeting colleges as that would be the age where one can easily get misled. We are talking about responsible ownership and it should not be perceived negatively, thus giving no room for the Antis to hit back!
Checkmate!
Cheers,
Rup

That would be the most sensible thing to do, avoid involving students at all costs IMHO

Guys my idea is that by some sort of PIL in Supreme court, we can make the difference, after collecting data from 1953-2007 from http://ncrb.nic.in/ by using RTI Act, that proves majority of crimes are committed by illegal firearms. Not a single terrorist used licensed firearm. Firearm licensing goes against law abiding citizens and serves no purpose. It will provide publicity in newspapers and awareness of general public and hopefully Honorable Supreme Court will be able to give directions to Government if we provide hard data from National Crime Records Bureau and drafting PIL in convincing way. Hope there are some lawyers in this forum who can draft PIL after getting requisite data to prove the point.

Involving students is a good idea. But not all of them to begin with. We can start talking to the NCC cadets first. They are the ones who would have had hands on training in handling firearms. They can talk to people about responsible gun ownership. The pros and cons of ownership in India and stuff like that.

I don't know if I'm the only one feeling this way. But wouldn't this probably be the worst time (from the govt's outlook) to bring up this issue?
I mean, I believe that every citizen should be aware and educated on safe and responsible gun handling and also demand the RKBA.
But with the govt's hands full with the lot of recent activities, I think it'd be better to keep a low profile until the waters clear.
Then again, thats just my view.

In my opinion, the office of the DCP Licensing should be neutral as they are an authority for granting as well as rejecting licenses for firearms etc. If they have 'anti' posters, it is an insult to the gun-owners who have got their licenses through their merit and approval of the DCP (L). A letter to the Commissioner, Delhi Police, signed by as many gun owners, should convince them of the folly of putting up such posters....
