Now that pellet traps are being discussed, have any of the members seen the pellet trap given with the Blanca air pistol? That is about the only good thing about the Blanca. It is made with ms and can hold paper targets too. Really good design. Will try to put up pics.

Hi Prabhath,

The pellet trap given with the blanca pistol is more of a target holder than anything else. I would not use it for air rifles.

But that used in conjunction with a proper pellet trap will be a good design.

The only problem I see in an indoor pellet trap is that if you miss the trap altogether you will have either a nasty dent on your wall or furniture or worst a pellet hitting a hard surface and rebounding back into your face.

I highly recommend a trap big enough for you. and preferably with a baffle to deflect the pellet away from the shooter.

My design was a "necessity is the mother of invention" plus "idle mind is a devil's workshop" kind of attemp. So if you are as carefull as I have been, try it.. but entirely at your own risk. You may copy a good design but may still not get the desired result. I was very sure of what I was doing and was aware of all the consequences.

Diskaon,

How is your experience with the Sisco Air rifle. I tried one recently and the trigger is much smoother than an IHP. However, the overall finish is lacking.

Yaj,

The trigger is hard as rock. I put a drop of gun oil at the trigger and it improved a lot. I think I will open up the rifle and service it in my free time. by the way I have gifted this one to my dad and its now kept in his place. a bigger yard is available. and no need for pellet traps there!!

Hanging a thick towel/carpet a few feet away behind the trap should ideally reduce the impact a lot if you were to miss the trap.

But, on a different note, we're talking about a trap the size of a book and distances of 5-15 yards. I dont think one can miss such a big target unless due to accidental discharge or perhaps while teaching someone.

I used to tip over a small table and shoot at that with a makeshift trap permanently attached to the bottom. Extremely safe but kinda stupid looking. If you have a small table, try it. Kindly note that this is only for regions not ruled by a home minister. :-D Try at your own risk. :-D

Friends...heres a 310w x 223h x 3mm tk mild steel pellet trap I made today at our factory's fab shop...made from scrap metal in less than 2hrs....the pellet impact caused by the RWS panther .177 on the 50deg incline section is a sweet sounding ''clunk''.....

Offtopic: Does the Panther have a synthetic stock?

What scope is that?

IMHO, you should get a barrel weight fabricated to get "the look" :-)

Mo,

The panther has a synthetic stock. Any further developments with the spinners?

Hey Prabhath,

Nope I haven't started work on the spinners yet. Firstly I've been really busy. And secondly, I still haven't heard from the mods whether or not its cool to go ahead.

Soon though.

Mo.
