I note on one of the other sections reference to limited-by-law ammo purchase. It is easy to misunderstand posts when you have no base of knowledge, so could someone clarify?
Also - out of curiosity- how much does ammo cost in India? In the US, a case of (lead) target shotgun shells (250 rounds) in 12, 20 or 16 gauge costs from $50-75, depending on quality and what sales are on. Steel (required for waterfowling) costs more. Good quality jacketed pistol ammo (9 MM or .40 cal., for example) costs $30 for 100 rounds, $20 for 25 rounds of serious hollow-point or fragmented stuff. No limits on quantity or license required.
Many people reload their own shells , of course.

Re: Linited ammo purchase?
hi steve
you are right about the limited ammo as every license has a limit.its as low as 25rounds per year in some cases.there are ways to get your quota increased provided you furnish details like NRAI membership etc etc....The IOFB manufactures ammo for 12g,32S&W long,32ACP,315 and 22LR.anybody having firearms of different calibers like 380ACP,30-06,270win etc..would have to rely on imported ammo which sells at a premium and prices vary from dealer to dealer.for example,an S&B 180gr 30-06 round sells for Rs 125($2.5).
cheers.
