I did not want to start a new topic ... I have now got my Shotgun permit and plan to by a short barrel SxS. My query is that the shaktiman shotgun (with full stock) priced around 16-18 K is what I am thinking of. I want to know if any members own this or have shot it and what would be your opinion on this. Also, is it 65 mm or 70mm chamber and does it have ejectors or extractors?

Shaktiman has horrible reviews.

There are several threads that talk about shotgun selection in Indian scenario .It would be a good idea to read them before making the final decision.

best,

you'll need a strong shoulder and a couple of DCP plates in wrists...if you have no choice ONLY...shaktiman 12g shells were horribly corrosive and patterns were , well, gone with the wind.Caveat emptor, unless they've upped QC in the last 10 years

Hi Disk,

What is a full stock in this case? AFAIK, Only Stutzen styled rifles like this one have full stocks.

Re Saktiman ammo, I always stored them in cardboard boxes in cupboard nice and dry.Never had a corrosive primer even though I heard that complaint often.BTW, I always felt they, especially slugs, are more forgiving than KF on my shoulders. The family heirloom SXS's stock is woefully short for me y'see.

And, congratulations on your gun license.Hope you will get a nice gun that would give you great pleasure, shooting or just admiring.

i had experience with a shaktiman SBBL and the patterns as eljefe said, were gone with the wind.i think they might be alright with slugs and ball :)

Then what would you guys suggest.. I have not yet finalized on the shaktiman..

I want a short barrel DBBL mainly for self deffence. (that makes it 20" or max 22") preferably it should have a good ejector, I dont like touching just fired shells, i want them to pop out and then pick them after a while. may have Internal/external hammers. Can have single/ double trigger. Basically the specs are like a good Coach Gun... budget below 20K

I recently saw a BSA DBBL SxS with ext hammers and around 28" barrel length. It was imported in the 60s. I got to hold it and I liked the feel of the gun. It was not for sale though.... I am sure someone would be able to tell me which model this is.
