Re: Fabricating scope rings and bases
If I were to do this on a semi-mass production routine, I would make them out of cast aluminum. Find a design that is suitable to casting, and use it as a pattern to either make sand impressions with or to make wax positives with. Then have a bunch of blanks cast up either way. A person can then do the final fitting and shaping by hand and save considerably.
Something like this would be easy and cheap to do:
Another idea is to make it an integrated mount and get rid of the rail. I could not find a good picture but here is what I mean:
The mounting holes instead of being underneath would be on a foot that extends forward or backward and meets up with the holes used for the scope rail. You can make a pattern by adding epoxy putty in the shape you want to the pattern.

Mark,
Thanks for the very detailed reply. Some things become obvious when some one points them out to you Do know of a fellow who can do this and very reasonably.

Re: Fabricating scope rings and bases
Manish..thanks for believing me...I practice only long range shots..+ 60m only...I have seen people grouping 1.5 -2.0'' using PCPs at 100m...since I shoot cans (3.5'' across dia) mostly...really I did not think that 1.5'' is an issue....it is quite possible on good days ...I do better with heavier guns...the IHP has gained in weight much to my liking..the shots were in kneeling position though...and if Thirths says it is impossible getting this group with springers...may I ask WHY....

Re: Fabricating scope rings and bases
Manish, spotting scope 20X20 power should be ok with large Objective.
Jetesh, there are many factors:
-Barrel technology
-Non Target Trigger
-Vibration
-Recoil
-hold sensitivity
-pellets quality
-Muzzle Velocity
-Wind
You may be a good shooter which I believe you are but the above factors are not let you.
Any question?

Thirtha
1.The IHP does have a barrel made out of a seamless German tube..the rifling and other machining jobs
are performed using Diana machinery...the machinery is old though..
2.The trigger they have is undoubtedly the best amongst Indian ones...it breaks only after a considerable
pull...and is quite definitely two stage but not adjustable
3. Vibration..yes...this could be a factor..luckily the gun that I use has very little twang...therefore I could
be lucky
4. Recoil...yes another factor...but a light hold will help
5. Hold sensitivity...almost all springers are...what then is accuracy...if I shoot a 2 litre paint can...that is
not accuracy by any standards!
6. Pellets used were were P10 flat heads from Gsmith...has tighter tolerances
7. Muzzle velocity could be 550-600fps...so I doubt if the pellet would flip backwards
8. No wind....that I agree is a must
Even if it was a fluke...lets make it happen tune/mod etc..what choice do you have with Indian guns...

Re: Fabricating scope rings and bases
All this makes me wonder if the IHP Pneumatic with Match pellets would be ble to achieve this feat ? Its got a better barrel and MV is 500fps. No recoil coz its an SSP. Any one with the Pneumatic willing to try this ?
Jeetesh. Your trigger is broken in coz a new IHP 25 or 35 have a really hard trigger. The trigger is direct sear type and cannot be adjusted at all.
Thanks
Manish

Re: Fabricating scope rings and bases
A simple question to you, what group do you get with your IHP at 10 meter?
