"Anti" posters @ ADCP (Licensing) Delhi

Post by mundaire » Wed Dec 10, 2008 1:42 am

Yesterday I was at the office of the Addl. DCP (Licensing) Delhi to have my handgun license renewed. What do I see as soon as I walk in, but two anti-gun posters plastered on the pillars there!

I believe this outright support for an anti-gun group, by the very office that is ensured with the task of issuing arms licenses is unethical at the very least. Earlier there used to be posters advocating gun safety, outlining safe gun handling etc. Information that is both pertinent and useful, replacing those posters with these ones is simply unacceptable.

I would request every to please go to http://www.delhipolice.nic.in/ and register their protest.

Thanking you in anticipation.

Cheers!

Thanks Abhijeet. E-mail on its way.

Dear Sir,

It has come to my notice that the office of the Additional DCP (Licencing) Delhi is now host to two anti-gun ownership posters which is both disappointing and insulting.

If there is one stark lesson that the recent Mumbai tragedy has highlighted, it is that the police cannot be everywhere everytime and so the onus lies on us Indians to be armed and proficient in the responsible use of firearms to protect ourselves at all times.

Your hosting of the anti-gun posters is an insult to the hundreds of thousands of responsible gun owners in this country and in extremely bad taste because it paints all gun owners as irresponsible due to the actions of a few. Should you have any doubt about this, may I please request you to consult your own crime statistics to verify how many crimes were commited with licenced firearms as against those with unlicenced arms.

Since we live in a democracy would you be willing to host pro-gun ownership posters such as those attached to this e-mail and then leave it to the people of India to decide which path they would rather choose? If not, I request you to remove such ill thought out posters and replace them with posters on the safe and responsible use of firearms instead.

Let me end with a quote from Mahatma Gandhi - "Among the many misdeeds of British rule in India, history will look upon the act depriving a whole nation of arms as the blackest."
Thanking you,

Yours sincerely,

Mack The Knife

What fun in the morning...
The guys talk about enforcing Arms Trade Treaty which is solely for the misuse of arms ex-im for military methods, and surely not for civilian rights or RKBA. Although its central aim is to provide common minimum standards, it is never talked about.

And how bad can you underestimate the world population. It is presently around 6.7 billion, and the presentation says:
Image
.. How ever can they divide 16 million by 6.7 billion and get '2'!!!

Here is another funny quote... India is listed as a world-renowned manufacturer of arms! .. Before Israel!
Image

And who can beat the destruction of the bullet that is so much talked about in this presentation. We are talking about owning guns responsibly, but the idea the presentation portrays is a tool for mass destruction. Check out the destruction caused by arms!
Image

.. now someone tell me... which small arms (apart from those used by Rajni and Mithunda) can create this sort of a blast...

Eegjacktly! Its the illegal guns and the irresponsible people that the cops (specially the licencing dept.) need to be behind.

However amusing their antics may be, it's time to begin taking these people seriously - they have both funding as well as a sympathetic ear from the government. It's time we guys got our act together as well...

Cheers!

Shahid,

All three posters are the work of Oleg Volk. http://www.indiansforguns.com/viewtopic.php?t=5230

I quite like your idea of newspaper adverts. Abhijeet do we have the resources to print them in atleast one national daily?

Who will pay for the newspaper ads Shahid?

Rusty, I'm not sure how much these things cost, but am assuming lakhs for papers with wide enough circulation...
