I own a fiat palio 1.6 sport(petrol)installed with a sports 4x1 exhaust system which delivers perfect mid range power band and a original momo steering setup.
I also own a suzuki swift ZXi(petrol)installed with NGK iradium tip plugs, sports 4x2x1 exhaust system, air craft style ignition system, K&N Conical high performance air filter with cold air intake system(at presently I have removed the complete performance air filteration system for some specific reason and have designed my own high air flow intake setup on the stock air intake system itself which I'm using right now on the car)with the previous setup the car performs excellent in initial pickup & mid range Power bands.with the present setup the car performs superb in mid range & top end Power bands.

Shamsher,I'm also planing of buying a second hand MPFI 4x4 Gypsy and Souping it up completely to rally Specifications.Shamsher a small piece of advise, don't bother to convert the engine to diesel, the engine which the gypsy has is a rugged and a tried and tested one for many years now,it has earlier been used in suzuki esteems also and now it's being used in the suzuki swift with ofcourse some significant changes done to it.

Shamsher,if its mileage that your are concerned with then I would highly recommend you to convert it to LPG by using a good branded italian conversion kit,it would be your best bet since you would enjoy the best of both worlds at a press of a button(power & mileage). :D 8)

 ,
SAM

Dear Mack The Knife,
I had a Maruti 800 standard 1997 in green colour.
It was much better than the new MPFI one.
One thing is sure- it never would stop so long as you got fuel in the tank, air pressure in the tyres & sparks flowing in the spark plugs.

In the later years 2004 onwards I used it all over my farm & fields & it never got stuck.

Probably the best all utility vehicle money can buy.

Sam,
What you say is right about the Gypsy, but since my basic need would be for farm use only where perfomance would be secondry I would consider the diesel as refuelling with the LPG at my location would be a problem.

There is a new engine in the Delhi scrap market called the 1.8 Ltr. D1.
It fits perfectly & the 4wd is also workable
There are claims of 20+ KMPL
Regards
Shamsher

Hey Shamsher,
i have a Gypsy King 1997 model. At least in Maharashtra as far as my knowledge goes conversion from petrol to diesel is not allowed by RTO any more, Bout as Sur to Air Mis said rightly, I have got a LPG kit fitted almost 4 yrs back and i am still using it. I got a BRC kit fitted and the most important thing is not to use the domestic LPG cylender. It is advisable to go to the pump and fill auto LPG as it tripple filterd and doesnot leave any residue or the smell in the vehicle. Now adays LPG refilling pumps are springing up in every city so as to control the pollution. Use LPG and "GO GREEN".
Regards
Happy

Gypsy in diesel - would strongly suggest against it! These "jugaads" are always more trouble than they are worth. If you want diesel, it would be better to get a second hand MM 540 in stead...

Cheers!

Am a poor chap who can't afford 4 wheels; therefore, a 1974 defence model Royal Enfield is the beast I ride.
