hi to all im planning to buy a taurus revolver .32 long made in brazil it is ina very good condition can some body plz give his opinion on it .Is it inferior like arminus

i have shot taurus pistols and revolvers and they were fine.in my opinion,taurus would fetch more than an arminius which sell for about 2L.It all depends on the buyer and i hope you know the condition of indian firearms market.i would happily take it if i get one in NIB condition

I recommend a Model 617 snubbie from Taurus; it chambers .357 Magnum and .38 Spl cartridges, so you get the best of both worlds. Besides, shorter barrels, as far as I'm aware of, increases the guns' efficiency - in the sense - it takes lesser time to cool down.

Steel it would be, either blued steel or stainless... Tarus makes some nice sturdy guns. But as mentioned earlier it all comes down to whether the asking price is right and if you can get something better for the same price or not.

In your case it'll be a gift, so why worry - everything is a bargain if it's for free....

Taurus has the reputation for making good products with lifetime warranty. I am looking to buy a Taurus Tracker used, and am having a hard time finding one, because no one wants to sell them. I think the gun will stand up to years of use.

Care to expand how a short barrel expands on the guns 'Efficiency'? A guns job is to put a projectile where you aimed it? The best gun is when the Point Of Impact (PoI) is exactly where you aimed it. Have you shot a .357magnum cartridge out of a 2" barrel snubbie as you described? I am not sure you are aware of the recoil and how hard it is to control that snubie with small 2" sight picture. I have rented and shot various .357 magnums and believe a minimum of 4" barrel is required to control the gun. Most competition shooters use a minimum of 6" barrels for 'efficiency'. Not to mention bullet trajectory improves more with longer barrels than shorter barrels. A 2" barrel is good to 20-25 yards at most (not that the round doesn't go further). Its just gets harder to aim and shoot at a target after that point which is not a very 'efficient' gun then..is it?

Well, sdiversp, I must admit that I have tried nothing but a .38 Webbley & Scott among handguns with a 2inch barrel for a few times and yes, it was tough on me. But then again, I'm not
a pro as you are in these matters and just trying to learn. One of my clients in US is a gun freak and he narrated me his experience with his Taurus snubbie. To him, the recoil was lesser than any other in the 2-ich category. I would like to know more and I hope you shall not refuse sharing your knowledge.
