GECO was the brand name of Gustav Genschow in Hamburg, Germany. They were not manufacturers, just distributors of contract built guns.

My friend has a Geco SXS, 12ga , double trigger, 32 inches barrel, choked. It is a robust looking gun with a very good finish. These guns are of good quality and are very sturdy and dependable. Lighter than a Baikal , I might add. Geco shotguns are also known as Geco-German in these parts but then we are also notorious for misnomers like "clutch-action", "re-browning" , "hockey" 12bore...... etc etc. :D :D

Wasnt given a price yet but was told its available. It is a hammered one. No idea of the age or condition either. What do you think it should be worth give that the condition is 'Ok'.

Hammered one is probably an earlier model , say around 1930 or so I think . I cant comment on the price . What is your budget ?

1930!!!! oh man.

Budget around 30 but if its worth the price then might be flexible.

When was the last gun sold by Geco and of those the hammer ones i guess were from the earlier batch.

I presume that Geco is no longer in production (for the last 30 odd years or more). can't find any recent guns by them.

Geko is a good and reliable gun. Now GEKO is part of Dynamite Nobel. ( RWS )

A hammer cocking GEKO should trade for about INR 20,000 to 30,000.

What is the purpose ? just home defence then it is great.

Some of these guns, particularly 28 inch barrel versions handle quite well indeed.

Tsaq

Do introduce yourself in the Introduction section and you should also post in the wanted section. This thread has been dormant for a while.

Yep, around the same rate in these parts.
Demand seems to have gone up for them.

Himachal seems to be a good place to sell but not to buy.The prices are 2 to 2.5 times the price in other places.

yes sir. but what we do it. The gun dealers of himachal earned approximately 20000 to 30000 thousand in a single weapon . license hard to find in Himachal ( after a bribe of 10000 after the arms draft 2016 are imposed in these days). if your want to sale your weapon the dealer valuvate your firearms price for Indian DBBl 10000 to 120000 and resale it 25000 to 30000 thousand and for imported weapon its hights. And the billing of the gun are not highered than 15000(mean they gave you the bill only 15000 to 20000 for sale any type of Shotgun and charged for Indian DBBL 45000 and for imported 65000 to 85000 and the billing are mearly 15000. Its all due to arms law of India.

In Himachal Medical and police report are mendotry for renewal of license .
and the license fee are
1) 1600 for single(shotgun only) weapon and 100 suvidha charges
2) Addition weapon Shotgun onlu 1500
3) late fee 1000
4) Duplicate of license 1100
5) Any Endorcement like Area validity, Ammunition Enhassment, Deletion of weapon , Purchase Period, Entary of weapon , and others charged 550 each and suvidha charges extra (50)

many of the people not collect their weapon from police station after the election process held in Himchal in December due to fee higking.
Its a Govt Statrgie to indirctely surrender your license and weapon by HIGKING THE FEE AND OTHERS [* Himachal Medical and police report are mendotry for renewal of license ]
