Mumbai under attack

As you may have seen on the news, mumbai is currently under attack. automatic weapons and grenades. I live and work very close to the spots and have heard 7 explosions. Also can see the taj on fire and smoke rising from various spots around our area. some close friends are stuck inside the taj and some close friends have laid down their lives.

was woken up by a call from a friend saying that there were blasts in mumbai. eventually found out that its worse than that. fortunately my family was not affected. I have friends working at taj. have not been able to contact them..

It is sad that the police cannot protect the citizens of India.Mumbai is known for their intelligence network and yet they could not do anything about it.

Its every man for himself now.I am not giving up my weapon.

I am a regular guest at Hilton Towers which is not Oberoi Trident and till recently used to visit Mumbai almost 5-6 times a month.

My sympathies to the families of the martrys.

Condolances to all the families of the bereaved. May God give them the strength to fight this tragedy. A salute to all the brave officers who laid down their lives. Time the B******S who did this were dealt with in the strictest possible manner. They should be shown no pity and killed without bothering to produce them in court.

In one go, over a 100 innocent lives lost to mindless terrorism and cowardly attacks. Hostages taken. NSG, army, police and special forces cannot protect every citizen who walks on the road or is a guest at a hotel.

We can offer condolences and strive to protect ourselves.

Is armed citizenry a solution ?

absolutely. I think compulsary 2 yrs of service and armed citizens will make a huge difference.

Here's another disturbing thing. Working from home today and the telly is on. One of the TV channels was showing cops getting ready for action. What was alarming is the way the cops were fumbling with their flak jackets (if they are kevlar to start with) almost pointing out to non-familiarity. God Help!

....we are complaining about the guys fumbling while wearing the bullet proof jackets.

Most of the people wore no jackets at all.Did you notice the obsolete rifles probably remnants of WWII which the Mumbai police carried. The terrorist had automatic rifles and enough ammo to keep the Taj & Oberoi burning even after 24 hours .What hurts me the most is how the Faujis/ police personnel are treated...these are the guys who take bullets in their chests and they are treated so shabbily that they even lack the basic equipment that is needed to fight terror.

Will lessons be learn t from this tragedy or will it be forgotten like those numerous blast victims we read about so often.It was sad to see relatives of the victims running from pillar to post to get the bodies of the victims released.My heartfelt condolences to the families of the bereaved. I hope all the hostages are released without any harm
