You're way too modest TenX buddy. Your absence, during the Mysore trip, was noted by all. PMs were abuzzing :) Welcome back.

Welcome Oleg.
I am in the process of musturing support for a pro gun lobby. Send me your e mail id by PM, I will mail you some articles and data that will give you some insight into the situation here. Some of these articles are published on this forum as well.

Till 1984 private safari companies ( Shikar operators ) were allowed to bring in foreign clients to hunt in India and blocks were reserved in a number of Indian states.

Then our good man Prince Charles the toilet bowl collector on behalf of WWF came to India with a fat donation to preserve our Tigers and ants and dogs because he felt we indians are incabale of doing so.

God knows where he lobbied and who were the culprits but all hunting was banned instead of poaching being banned.

A clever politician called meneka Gandhi then made hobbnobbing with protectionists ( not conservatioanists ) her exclusive preserve. Insane governments ruled India from 1995 to 2004 and more damage was done.

The entire process needs to be traced.

Terrorism sponsored from across the border led to more fear of licenced arms. THis mindset was promoted that hunting is an upper class elitist sport and these upper class opress the lower class with their licenced weapons. The opposite is true. The lower class naxalites opress the elite with full eastern block infantry at their disposal. I have fought pitched battles with them.

On issue of licence ridiculous level of limit of 10 rounds of .22 LR ammo per day and 50 in the whole year is imposed. Well if we are insane gun weildind lunatics then even with those 10 rounds issued 10 people can be shot. Is there any sanity ?

A ban on imports of arms and ammo benefits a select few who make millions of dollars on dubious arms sales.

A Walther PPK is sold in India for 20,000 dollars.

India - a country which has the potential to win at least two dozen gold medals in Olympics and a 100 each year in ISSF events.

But we have decided to murder the sports. I meet a lot of shooters and youngsters these days. Today I am going once again to shoot a few rounds of skeet where I will spend some time with more juniors.

Lets give them hope and a future. Come on all join this lobby and give it full support.

Send me your e mail, we will talk more.

If I start stating facts and pour over dairies and notes even the next four days are not enough.

But all of the above is true.

.. Adding to the 'truth' aspect, what needs to be highlighted is the bad logic that is mostly copied or badly formed to make the foundation of rules - not just about RKBA, but most administrative facts. Some are well thought of ('some', mind you), while most are ad-hoc and bears no fruit all the sowing and tilling!

Whatever the cause, things stand at their lowest ebb.
Step no 1 is pro gun lobbying, the hunting part will come later.

Shahid,

You are advised to ease up on the cross-border stuff.... this is NOT a political forum...

Thanks.

Fine. The moderation is respected, but as an Indian I have no respect for the culprits from across the border.

Lets not confuse politics with people, shall we? I doubt if anyone in Asia would have much love lost for (soon to be ex) President Bush, but at the same time I am sure most of us who have friends in USA would not make the mistake of confusing Bush's politics with the general public in USA....

Now lets just leave it at this... you can chew my brains over a beer when we meet, but lets take it off the air... :)

Cheers!

I have a friend who volunteered a collection of Indian arms for photos. He will visit me in a month and we'll make more posters.

Is Ghandi (the first one) respected by the Indian public? I can use some of his statements in posters.

Hi Oleg.
I am sure you meant 'Gandhi', the 'Mahatma', also known as 'Bapu' (father, in Hindi) - the 'Father of the Nation'.
Yes, he is very much respected by everyone who has had the slightest bit of education and handles Indian currency, since he is printed on every one of them :)
A large majority of people have great faith in every word of his, although they may not follow them much in real life :)
All of his policies were based on non-violence, and I doubt f you could use much of his statements. All the very best :)

TenX,

This is a much repeated quote from M K Gandhi... from his autobiography.

'Among the many misdeeds of the British rule in India, history will look upon the Act depriving a whole nation of arms as the blackest. "
