If you have a bill on this effect, you could mail the same to IOF and get a cancellation order for the dealer's distribution/dealership.
You should also approach the cops/consumer-court to see what action can be taken.
Guys... if someone is into the Press or has good contacts with them, maybe publishing this would be a good idea, eventually leading to a joint effort to fight such 'topi' walas

TenX is right, I think you should take up the matter with the consumer forum and the IOF.
. I hope you have saved the receipt ( in Punjab the dealers mention whether the firearm is new or second hand on the receipt itself) , the proof of purchase would be on your license too. Was it really new ? How much did he charge you ?
best,

For a start please please please name and shame the dealer here. It will save a lot of innocent buyers heartache in the future. I don't know of any dealers in Mumbai selling new (or even old) IOFB handguns.

The dealer's name is M/s. Hassanand Hemandas & Co., Near Crawford Market, Mumbai.
Ashok thenks a lot for your concern & advice.
I do have the receipt with me.
I have spoke with a Police Armoury Officer, he has checked the weapon & is willing to help me out.
However, I am going to write to the DGOF and going to take up this matter.
Also, we have to have a joint concerted action against this type of malafide practises of the dealers.

HH Co. didn't look too convincing when I went there myself. I didn't know they sold IOF products.
In the building on the right just above them (where Zaffaran is) there is a Gunsmith, India Arms or something like that. Meet Guddu there, he should be able to fix it quite easily.

I may be interested if it can be fixed. I believe it is extremely lightweight and cheap too. I can use it for the weapon entry on my license and if it is not to my taste after a while I can chuck it away. What did you pay for it?

Why did you pay 55k? Isn't the official price (incl taxes) in the range of 41k?
Anyway, my license is at least 10 days away, if it doesn't get issued before the 3rd then I'm away for 15 days for Hajj so my purchase will be more delayed until after the 18th of December.
If you are in a hurry and Badshah can organise the logistics then I'm cool if he picks it up.
Badshah, how will you get it to UP?
mhksmk, where in Mumbai are you? If in South Mumbai we could meet up and I could check out the gun myself.
