I agree.. probably a plastic contraption with a cover of transparent plastic on all sides, within which one could place the painted stuff, sounds reasonable...
If one could make a tent out of plastic bags and place the painted article(s) inside, with dear sun pouring heat on it, it would suffice. My concern was that sometimes, humidity may mar the drying if done indoors, and using a bulb may induce non-uniform drying... :)

Mo a few questions for you.

Where and how much did you pick up the cans of paint for?

also you mentioned "coats of clear" is that some kind of protective covering of neutral paint like touchwood is for wood?

@Parag: Thanks for bringing it up. Keep us updated on how it goes. I'm particularly interested in the plastic parts. Plastic is very unforgiving when it comes to painting and peels quicker without primer. So let us know.

@Tenx: Drying inside is always best due to several reasons. Dust is a major factor. Also drying in thehot sun will prematurely fade the paint.

@Tirtha: The primer was omitted since I initially decided this to be a temporary solution till bluing. But its come out so well, that I'm having second thoughts. However, even if it peels, I will redo the process with primer. The surprising inexpensiveness of the whole process is a boon when it comes to touch ups and improvements.

@Hamiclar: Thanks! The neighbour's car is always a great choice. Plus it can be ur christmas surprise for them. I suggest camo for the best reaction. :-D

@Tenx: The catch to that idea is that I have to spend time/money on building such a device., not to mention guard it! lol.

@Sniper: The spray cans are widely available. They cost Rs.200 each. You will need at least 2 for the stock. And 1 can of clear. Clear is transparent. Its just like paint but just coats a transparent film. Like lamination is to paper. It has several uses the most important being it protects the paint.

I believe you are from khadki. You will be able to find BOSNY aerosol near pune. Go for the largest shop (or distributor).They will have a catalog. You can Choose the different shades.

The color of paint used is given in the main article. :D :mrgreen: :D

Yes, each color has some numerical. But it is of little use to customers...Since there are shops which do not use computer controlled systems for product stacking.
