Hello All,
After a long hiatus, finally the Fed Ex people called me to their office at IGI airport. Reached there by 3pm and left at 9,but finally got my hands on what i had been dreaming about for a very long time. :D
I had been called to meet the Deputy Commissioner Customs for a hearing about my case. Heard a lot of weird and wild theories in that office yesterday. eg. You can change the barrel and convert it into a firearm,we cannot import airguns via courier(according to him cargo and post were fine ),it is not an air pistol as it says colt 1911A on the slide engraving, where is the sports ministry letter,if he puts his signature on the release papers he will be held responsible for the rising crime in delhi(ok i made the last one up!).. Anyways to cut to the chase.. i finally sat at the clearence warehouse till they finally dug it out of a hugh pile of stuff(was detained for almost 22days).Did not have to pay any extra warehousing charges though(saved almost 2000 as it turns out). Reason being i had cursed the Fed Ex throughly for the delay so it was kind of an olive branch gesture from them. When i finally got the box in my hands ,kept on feeling it might be one of my more vivid dreams(have had loads in the past few days). Couldn't wait to open and take a look inside ,but thankfully restrained myself till i reached home(delhi being what it is these days i would become the 9 pm news... :D ) . Thank you Abhijeet ,Mack The Knife Sir ,Yash and all fellow members who took time off to guide me and gave much needed moral support.
Have included a link below to my picasa album.. Hope you guys like it..

Beretta 92FS (CO2 Pistol) Purchase Related Query

Post by shashank » Fri Oct 17, 2008 5:20 pm

HI everyone...
Hope all are doing fine.

This is my first ever post in this forum, i dont know weather m posting my query at a right place or not. sorry if i did so.

Query: I wish to purchase a Beretta 92 FS CO2 Pistol which is available at Pyramid Air @ $189.99. I asked them ki will you be able to ship to india, their reply was as follows in BOLD
Pyramyd Air, LTD., ships products internationally, but many countries have restrictions on our items. It is up to you to know the laws in your location. Contact your customs service to get the required import permits for the items you order. If you order an item that is confiscated by your customs service, Pyramyd Air is not responsible for the loss nor will it reimburse you for the cost of the impounded products or their shipment.

Please tell me is it legal in india to import that Gun, and also please give ur feedback on any online international purchase done by you from Pyramid air or any other company.

Also it would be grt if this gun is available in india, if yes then please tell me from wher i can get that.

Thanks in advance
Hoping for some help from u guys. :)

Thanks & Regards
Shashank

Do you understand how this air pistol works? I am assuming that you don't as the hassle of acquiring co2 cartridges might make you reconsider.

Generally these are a real pain and after the slog you go through in acquiring the pistol, it will be sad to use it like a paper weight.

Next do you know that if you use a credit card pyramyd air slaps on a fifty dollar charge for it plus they screw you on the postage (by insisting on sending it by air cargo or what not). So use them as a reference and then buy your pistol from somewhere else if you are still bent on it.

Dev

p.s. you can import a .177 air pistol thru post.
To ride, to speak up, to shoot straight.

hi...
Thanks for the reply abhijeet...

M going for CO2 pistol b'cos it has the blow back action, feels like real. :)
Please suggest me any other gun with a blow back action and is reliable and worth buying.

also suggest me any other company to import air pistol except Pyramid air.

Thanks

Shashank,
as Dev said, its a real pain to source the CO2 carts. Anyway choice of airgun is completely on you.

It is completely legal to import a .177 calibre airgun, by the postal/courier route as long as you have a valid shooting club/range license and it satisfies the wood deal test (if conducted).

Go to the thread on importing airguns by postal method, one of our members Sharad (madmax) had imported a colt 1911 a/g from pyramidair, he has posted his experiances on that thread.

I think now m changing my mind from a CO2 pistol to a Spring Pistol :D

But i dont have any shooting club license :(
I am in crime branch indore (Cyber Cell) as an official consultant. So may i use my letter from crime branch for the same ?
May be its sounding something foolish...but plz suggest.

Well the official way is to have a club membership. I cannot comment otherwise.
A spring powered a/p is certainly a more practical choice. Why dont you try getting a club membership, it shouldnt be too difficult.

Regards.

Threads merged.

Shashank, most (if not all) of your queries would be answered if you take the time to read through the (16 odd) pages on this thread...

The CO2 or compressed air pistols are far more accurate and better than the springy counterparts. A spring pistol is pretty much limited owing to the size of the spring and what power or consistency it can generate.. This is my opinion :)
