What do we pack in our survival kits?

Post by jayanta mukherjee » Wed Oct 08, 2008 1:38 am

Hey friends,
Since we all are the outdoor types rather than couch potatoes there might have been sticky situations which we all might have faced which made us prudent to make our own survival kits/ bags. I cannot help but comment how Amir Khan and Juhi Chwala in the movie QQST got lost in the jungles and Amir Khan took out match boxes et all from his back pack. It is essential for those moments. I request all you members to enlighten one another what your survival kit consists of.
Being the initiator of this topic I spill out the bins of mine:-
1.A two cell torch
2. A small 5 inch knief
3. A Clipper lighter (one always remains in my pocket since i smoke) (no offence meant)
4. A First Aid Box comprising of an antiseptic, aspirins, domstals(am acidic and have to take meals regularly)
5. My Grandfather's compass
6. Some good quality nylon rope
Now it is time for you to tell what you carry
Bye
Jayanta

your cellphone! don't forget your mobile. specially if the AVP series are to be believed, you can get a call from weyland yutani even the top of the himalayas.

on a serious note, you MIGHT get a signal anyway

For an "urban" survival kit don't forget your credit cards and a great deal of patience (to suffer fools)... not necessarily in that order... ;)

How long do you want to survive for, and in what environment?

In a SHTF or TEOTWAWKI situation you're not going to last very long without some firepower.
I live in a fairly rural setting with good visibility all around, and do not think I will be going out.

Things like currency and credit cards will be fairly useless in a serious situation. Cyclone/Hurricane/Typhoon Riots etc. Yes you could always use it to check into the Taj and sit it out.

Sitar one question why you make multiple posts after one another in same thread always? adding pages unnecessarily and making thread difficult to read. You can always use EDIT to amend your post if its trailing the first one you made.

Looks like you have never been outside.. there are some places where soft leaves are hard to come by and stones can scratch your A$$ and believe me you don't really want to do that when you are out on your own :)

Sorry for going OT Jayanta.

On a serious note its been long since I've been out on my own but in the days when I use to ride alone. I always carried a water bottle (Army canteen type), lighter, and a knife with me apart from my bike spares and clothes. Didn't need anything else in those days..

I guess some of us have mentioned a list in the 'Things that I carry' topic (http://indiansforguns.com/viewtopic.php ... highlight=) :)

But here are some welcome additions:
An extra pack of ciggis (and lighter/matches)...
A (preferably laminated) slip of personal information like contact person, address, number, blood group, allergic to, and such.
A multi tool...
Camera
I also carry a foldable 'silver' blanket :)
Extra batteries for your torch

i will add at least a revolver in a decent caliber, starting from a 38 special but prefer something that' start with 4 to my list of survival kit. but i will certainly carry my 223 in any anti zombie kit.
