BSA Sportsman Five Rifle

Post by The Doc » Wed Sep 24, 2008 2:14 pm

Gentlemen,

Whats your take on .......

Birmingham Small Arms Co ltd - BSA - Made in England - "Sportsman Five" - .22 LR rifle - Bolt Action - Five Shot Mag - 24/25 Inch Barrel - Clean Rifled Bore , overall in excellent condition. Sparingly used.

What should be the tentative price tag ?

best,

RP.

Hi Doc.
I presume prices may vary depending on where in India its available...
Can you tell which state its in? Matter of fact, a friend who recently got his permit for a .22 is looking out for one.

Thank you for your response gentlemen,

Can anyone tell me about the BSA Sportsman five .22lr in terms of - quality, reliability, accuracy etc. Any owner's/ex-owner's feedback ?

TenX I am in Punjab and if I do buy this particular rifle then my IOF .22 rifle ( checkered stock, and a spare IOF mag ) will go on sale.

bsa s5 is not the best in terms of quality, reliability, accuracy etc but is very good gun.

if it is avaible for reasonable price then go for it.
otherwise brono is the best.

Try the BSA and decide for yourself.

Hi Doc,
You could get a decent .22 for about 45 to 50K, that's the average market price.

The Imported .22's are not much in demand after the Indian one came along.

The BSA u mention above should be approx 60k, A Bruno would still fetch up to 75K

The BSA is much superior than the Indian one - go for it.

Not in my neck of woods, I am afraid . I have heard that .22 cal is rather "economical" in Eastern UP, if thats what you are quoting Shamsher Bhai.

Much more in Punjab. May be if one goes to sell it the dealer will quote 75K but boy o boy if one went looking for a BRNO , the price quoted can shock one out of his pants !!

if you can afford then go for it later on you will understand the difference in both

second plan

go for iof 22 for some months and later buy brono or bsa then you will certainly understand the difference between imported and indian one
