Getting rid of Lizards

Post by Shamsher » Thu Sep 04, 2008 1:17 pm

Hi Bros,

As a kid I was taking on these ugly creatures in and around the bunglow with an air rifle.
My son has taken over this year.

Is is legal to get rid of lizards?

I would love to see a permit for lizards, in case they have one.

Shooting inside the house is dangerous and shooting garden lizards is quite unnecessary unless they have over-run the place.

Use empty egg shells on top of curtain pelmets, wardrobes, etc. to keep them out of the house.

Hi Mack The Knife
You are right about the dangers involved.
Saftey first!
I always kept out of the return path of the pellet after impact. A few painful experiences in the very early days taught me to calculate the pellet's return flight - & the young man is following the same rule

In a lot of homes across our country you will fine some one (more likely a female) scared like anything of lizards. -Have to keep them comfortable!

Lizards are actually good to have around as they eat pesky mosquitoes, flies and other insects! Besides contrary to popular belief the common gecko is NOT poisonous... in fact AFAIK no poisonous species of lizards are to be found on the Indian sub-continent.

Cheers!

Coming back to the original topic.. lizards mythologically are considered to be "lakshmi ki savari" they are supposed to bring in wealth into the house they reside. I have no scientific proof on this one though.

TenX - why can we start a Shooters Anonymous instead??? the babus will be very happy to oblige.

i believe in neither.. i guess over the ages. all ugly animals have been attached to some mythological story in order to avoid it from becoming extinct. I am only stating what i have heard..
