Fair, balanced comments are always welcome. For comments that may include some unpleasantness or even expression of a strong opinion, especially on money matters- which are likely to be sensitive, can always be sent through PM. Perhaps a rule defining this would be in order.
Having said that, let us not forget that any community will have a variety of people, so when they express their opinion it only adds to the coulour and variety in that community. That is what makes it interesting to visit the website and interact with others. I know that this is a website for gun lovers, and I am as passionate as any other, but how long can we talk in a regulated tone about my gun and your gun? Let there be this spice too instead of too many regulations. We already have well thought of rules anyway.

Nice Idea 10,TenX";p="51296 wrote:Do we need to add a rule - "Dealers should accept all fair comments on the pricing issue". Maybe this should be applicable for all those who sell on the forum - dealers or not.
Something like "Be aware and warned that you may or may not receive a fair amount of unpleasant and crude comments on your pricing- By posting and quoting a price of a item, it is assumed you agree that you will accept all nature of comments barring those of a very personal nature"....
or something like that...

Actually, coming to selling, we will have several categories of sellers - those who genuinely sell for personal reasons (change of equipment, want of money, etc), those who sell for others, those who sell for gain, those who sell as business - whichis their life style, those who blah blah blah...
In all of these, we will not be able to draw a fine line as to who a dealer is, and who is not. Some personal collectors may sell/buy more than what a dealer offers on the forum.
With this in mind, we will only have to formulate a rule that holds good for all sellers, but remains well within supporting genuine sales between collectors and shooters only...

Re: Should dealers sell on the forum?
We can create a separate section for dealers and for private sellers. They can list their firearms with pics and prices. If anyone is looking for some specific gun, he can browse the collection and make their choice whether they want from a dealer or private seller. That can help people especially who are new to check what option they have when they want to buy some firearms rather than going to all the dealers in the city.

While I fully understand that the suggestions made by many of the members on this thread are well intentioned, I'm afraid a lot of them would be difficult and some almost impossible to implement - especially without invading the privacy of our members, a road we would not like to go down.
Anyhow, keep the ideas flowing
Cheers!

They register themselves with IFG for a fee.
A certain amount of royalty will have to be paid (to IFG) for every sale.

thank you all for taking part in this poll.
the results are for all to see so i need not give a brake down of that however there were many good points made by most if not all of you.
i would agree that dealers should be shown as a dealers and a small payment should be given to the forum.
also as Abiji has already covered in his post that it would be a difficult exercise to enforce, the dealers to declare them selves as dealers etc.
still i feel that for all its worth there should be a dealers section on the forum.
once again thanks for sharing your views at least we now know what the forum members think and want on this subject.
so over to the Mods now

if you say it can not be done, then you are right, for you, it can not be done.

Two questions-
1. What about tax issues? If IFG hosts dealers, would it be deemed a service provider, hence come under the perview of service tax? Appears so, if a charge is to be levied on them.
2. How can one ensure that dealers identify themselves as such, so that they can be charged? If something cannot be controlled, why attempt to?

hi ai
bit late mate the poll is closed
i think the two question are good ones, however at this stage irrelevant since no service is provided by the forum to the dealers.
As you know that the forum looks at its member to apply honest towards the forum, but we both know that is hard to enforce, however i still have faith that honest dealers would make them selves known and do what is right in sight of man and God.
hope i have answered you question
joking apart your question should be an eye opener and thought should be given. However this can only be dealt at the Mods level since they have to make and comply with rules, hope they are reading this and drafting a very shot to the point answer for us all.

It would be impossible to enforce. Lets leave the making of unenforceable rules to the bandits we have sitting in parliament - eh?nagarifle";p="51703 wrote: ...and drafting a very shot to the point answer for us all.
