My buddies and I call it the common carp. I am not sure if there is a more scientific name for it.

What types of carp do we have in India?

Common carp, grass carp, Carnatic carp, rohu, katla, kalbose, hybrids and probably a few more I am unaware of.

Mahseer is also considered a species of carp by some, though it probably belongs in the barbel category...or atleast a few sub-species do.
