hey ten x i didnt abuse you.
please quote the part where you felt abused.
i didnt condemn you.
in fact this is the first post i am writing after your 3.
i have called you bro, bhai and have been most curteous towards you. never condemned you.
mods please check if i have been abusive towards tenex.
bhai, photography doesnt control the population. but i think vikram has mede it very clear.
inder has made a valid point. we do it because we like it.
The only reason i was giving the points was in response to hunting being "mean" etc
bhai although you have wrongly accused me of abusing you, i still want to side with you and lordrott and say it ACCORDING TO ME HUNTING IS NOT A SPORT.
It is more than a mere "khel" - it is my passion, my life.
Sport toh hockey cricket hai.

I'd have to agree with Shooter, that hunting is not a "sport", it is a passion. It is unfortunate that the English language, unlike others, terms hunting a sport, as it conveys the wrong connotation.
As to there no longer being any need to hunt, with meat being readily available, if you want to eat meat but want someone else to do the dirty work for you, then go to the store for meat full of hormones, pesticides, and antibiotics. I prefer to get my own, unadulterated and wholesome. As to unequal terms, the animal recognizes me as a predator, just as it would any carnivore that also hunts it. Isn't it far more unethical and mean to raise an animal, make it dependent and trusting of humans, and then butcher it?
If you are Jain, eat no animal products, wear no leather, do not slap mosquitos, do not poison roaches, or trap the mice in your pantry; I will respect your view and your conviction. If you don't, I'd urge you to re-examine your views about hunting. And, yes, as in any other aspect of human activities, there are those who conduct themselves in an unethical manner. Cheers.

I have only one suggestion for you shooter - If you cant handle a healthy argument or discussion, it would be best if you would do something else, instead of throwing personal abusive remarks and directing people what not to do...
Please do read on, if you would still care to...
I did like the way you put in your points. Cant disagree that it was presented well. But still, how does accusing/condemning someone benefit? ... This is not a matter of impractical idealness etc etc, but a forum where opinions and views are 'shared'. Many a times, we all assume that there is only two ways about anything, and later on, realize that something else should/could have been done. I am on neither's side, but am proposing views for a better vision in understanding each other.
Tell me, would you feel nice if someone threw abuses at you just because they did not appreciate your point. That is nowhere a mature thing to do, especially on an online forum which is viewed by many.
We have had several discussion thrown away by transgressing into inappropriate postings. Let us aviod that. The quality of a discussion lies in making the other person see your point of view, while being equally capable of viewing the other person's.
I am for properly placed regulations, and for control of the eco-balance by ensuring certain species dont tip the scale. I have already mentioned this earlier.
I refuse to get into any direct and personal negative discussion, and request all others to correct me if I am wrong.
TenX, my friend, It's me Vikram, not Shooter, who made that post which seem to have given you much umbrage.Sorry to have caused that. But, I fail to see where I have been abusive towards you or personal. Of course I was addressing my post to you but in no way was I less than respectful.Calling impractically ideal or moral smugness seem to have offended you. Please know that it was with reference to the ideas expressed but in no way diminishing to you as a person. It however is obvious that you haven't given a careful look to what I wrote. Please reread again.I completely understand and even accept if one chooses not to hunt.I however will not accept that hunting is wrong when practiced in the light of previous discussion. Please feel free to discuss and debate with us.I once again make it clear that no ill will is borne against you. Please come up with your views and we shall have a nice debate.
Best-
Vikram

Re: Hunting is the meanest action by humans!
Thanks all for your kind responses.
Guess I was not comprehending the words well. My Bad. Lets bury the sachet shadow please
Having said that, lets get back to the subject, shall we
I once had one of the leadership training instructors tell me the simple motto for a great team - 'No One of us is better than All of us', which makes so much of a perfect sense. It is with this thought that I constructively participate to bring about everyone's views, so that we may all stand corrected, if required.
Now, from most responses we have received, may we judge that:
Hunting is a responsible and sporty passion, and should remain within norms...

ten x, its not about comprehending your words, its about reading who has posted, which is about a name.
it just happened ou compared me to a great guy like vikram so it turned out to be a compliment.
ten x bhai in regards to your comparison of shooting with a gun and a camera:
(just for the sake of discussion)
shooting with a camera doesnt make you 'bhookh proof' (in shikar, if u dont shoot u dont eat)
doesnt teach u about the good shot placement (refer to lighter side...)
doesnt teach u about getting over a break up.
aur yeh bhi bata deta hoon...
the concept of wildlife photography was also pioneered by shikaris.

Well said.
Here is something else I picked up from http://www.dcfs.org/ , whose link was posted in another thread in this forum.
""It shall be the object of this organization to draw into fellowship, persons interested in wildlife: To promote the true sportsman's view in regards to rehabilitation of wildlife resources, to encourage and promote conservation, and to support and inspire legislation to achieve this objective.""

Re: Hunting is the meanest action by humans!
As Oscar Wilde once said regarding foxhunting..."The unspeakable in pursuit of the inedible", or something like that. More foxes have been killed in car accidents after there was a shooting ban on fox hunting. Well moderated hunting had developed even their genes better. Well in India every year poachers are able to kill less elephants then they die in accidents (specially railway accidents) in northern West Bengal. Friends please read this thread and then think judiciously
http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pittsbu ... 35010.html
Till then let us all dream that we can raise voice for moderated hunting once more in India.
Well another pointer guys that in the pre-independance era of our country when there was no such ban then probably one of the largest tiger population was in our country. And see not a Sarisha Scam
Chow n take care
