Hi Abhijeet,
I think the reason ppl are starting a new thread on this and many other topics is because the information they are looking for is split up between 20 odd pages.

Is there a way that we can put up a Note (like what was done for the maintenance section) with the required details and a recent experience.

Just a thought.
Thanks

Sniper,

Don't you think it's better to go through 20+ pages on a thread relevant to your query than to have to dig through literally hundreds of threads, many of them duplicating the same questions/ information.

Prior to this website coming up as a publicly available online resource, the rest of us had to work "really really hard" to find any kind of India specific information.

Personally I think that anyone who thinks that it's a waste of his/ her time to go through these 20+ pages to get the relevant information BUT EXPECTS everyone else here to pitch in and help them out by REPEATEDLY answering the same question can at best be described as being very inconsiderate.

Cheers!
Abhijeet

Import of Air Rifle

Post by Biren » Fri Aug 08, 2008 11:29 am

Hi all,

i went through the postings regarding import of AIR Rifles. What i could gather is one can import .177 air rifles. Whether any duty is to be paid and Membership of Rifle Association is required or not? well my interpetation is one can import for personnel use .177 air rifle without paying duty. Also membership of rifle association is not required. Refer to Notification no 21/2008-custums ND 1st march 2008 where nill duty is provided for .177 import. That my interpetation. Would appreciate if members can through light on the same. Enclosing the notification

Regards,
B.S

Your interpretation is a little off go thru the earlier posts with a magnifying glass. Then you will have a precise idea.

Biren
as per the new exim notes the procedure is same ie the .177 air gun importer for his personal training should be a member of approved rifle club and only the import duty is waived .however cvd duty of 14 % is applicable by custums

B.A.R. no longer send air-rifles to India because they are unable to get a courier company to carry the rifles.

B.A.R. have also stopped accepting overseas orders from new customers due to lack of staff.

I am sorry but I do not know of any other U.K. online shops that will post/courier an airgun to India. That does not mean there are no such shops, it's just that I do not know of any.

You will either have to e-mail and ask the various U.K. shops or consider buying from the U.S. or another country.

Why don't you order from USA? Tim at Mac1 Airguns seems to be a tried and tested source and even though his range is limited his low packing & postage costs make him an attractive option.

Though Be prepared for his gruff nature while dealing with him...

He has a licence to import sporting Air Pistol/ Gun.

You can always mail it to yourself but that limits the caliber to .177. As far as I know one member here bought back a .22 air rifle from London just a few months back. The rules may have changed however or Jet is fibbing.
