I am sorry for the delay in posting the pictures. The pictures of the repeater in question can now be seen in my personal album. Your views would be welcome.
best,
RP.
From the pics it looks to be in good condition,if you are considering it seriously, then check the condition of the bore and also the chamber size.
Typically fire arms of this vintage came with 2.5 inch chambers, which leaves you with a restricted ammo choice re KF's.
How much is it being quoted for

The bore is excellent, chamber size is 2 3/4, barrel is fully choked. I have "tried out " this firearm and the action is very smooth as well, kicks a bit though !!
I am not planning to buy it, I already have a O/U . This repeater belongs to a friend who wanted to know about the origin and quality of the firearm.

Yep it is a JC Higgens model.
Compare these 2 pictures. Look at the safety and also the position of the hole in the stock next to the bolt:

I guess that, owing to the weight and size of the Shotgun rounds, it may be inevitable that a bigger magazine spring should be used, which in turn, may deform the plastic casing of shotgun rounds, which does not occur with hard casing rounds.
This may be a reason for why they dont show up in the market...

Forgot to mention - an added advantage, obviously, would be to have a scope fitted, since there is no break-barrel action at the stock end...

Yes the two guns look similar, now did JC Higgens manufacture it and Frank S Jonas Inc just put their stamp on it? I take it that its an american gun manufactured between 1945 - 1956.

Re: Bolt action shotgun
J.C. Higgins was a brand name of Sears Roebuck, and the gun was probably manufactured by Stevens or Mossberg. There used to be be quite a few of the big retailers that marketed cheap guns made by manufactureres under their own brand names. Don't think bolt action shotguns appeared on the market that early, as bolt actions per se did not gain any popularity until after WWI. In any case, it's a utility gun to keep in the corner of the barn. Awkward, slow, and clunky; but serviceable and cheap. Cheers.

A scope on a shotgun? Either you have never been shotgunning or maybe you are thinking purely in terms of using it with slugs? IMHO considering the usual duties of a shotgun - a bolt action would have very limited appeal... Get a rifle for a rifle's job and a shotgun for a shotgun's.... but to each his/ her own...TenX";p="47916 wrote: Forgot to mention - an added advantage, obviously, would be to have a scope fitted, since there is no break-barrel action at the stock end...
