Re: Importing airguns into India
"How can an air rifle ever be classified as a firearm"? By lawyers, Shahid, by lawyers and politicians. We have, or had, places where even a slingshot was a "firearm" according to law. "Under the Law" anything can be defined as anything. So, grin and bear it. And next election try to throw the rascals out and elect another set of idjits instead. Cheers.

Hi,
Just a couple of questions,
1. Has any member dealt with Gunmakr from Pune? Has the service been good?
2. Does one have to be member of a shooting club for a certain amount of time to be eligible to buy/import directly an airgun via post?
3. Is there any shooring club in Mumbai, and what are the membership fees?
Please let me know.
Cheers,
Abishai.

Hi Prasad,
Hope all is well, a few days ago, I received an email with the prices, If you claim the rates are at the company offered price.
Prices From Germany
Diana 350 magnum = € 479 INR 34,000/-
Diana 350 magnum superior = € 559 INR 37,500/-
Diana 350 magnum panther = € 389 INR 27,000/-
Diana 54 Airking = € 689 INR 46,300/-
ROE - Euro 67 approx at todays value.
I am interested in going in for the gun from Gunmark, but the prices you have mentioned are a cause of concern for me, including the fact that there is no paperwork on the guns.
Please reply ASAP.
Regards,
Dudley Fernandez.

Dear Sir
Thank you for the mail. Sir the prices which you have given are Ex germany prices. so the freight and the insurance and the clearing charges add up to the basic cost which pile up and the final figure comes off.
The freight charge for 1 weapon is approx 100.00 euros by air cargo as it is charged double due to dangerous goods status.
Also as you say there is lot of paper work involved in importation of any weapon.
If you are a member of any shooting club then we can give you paper work and that also for .177 cal.
For .22 cal there will be no paperwork.
Please confirm and reply.
best regards

Re: Importing airguns into India
Other arms (including truncheons ) are restricted to import.
Restriction doesn't apply only on .177 with club membership
anything other than .177 is No No!!

The restriction of .177 cal is for direct imports i.e. via post/ courier etc. There is no calibre restriction on people bringing back airguns as part of baggage when returning from overseas. PLEASE take the time to read the previous posts on this thread, it's all been covered before!tirths";p="45897 wrote: Other arms (including truncheons ) are restricted to import.

Re: Importing airguns into India
Perhaps I missed out somehow. Can you provide me the link of the page if possible. As per my knowledge, weapons are not a baggage item until it fulfill some condition, permit, license, membership etc. Import by any means, either via baggage/courier has to abides by the rules of DGFT.mundaire";p="45902 wrote:The restriction of .177 cal is for direct imports i.e. via post/ courier etc. There is no calibre restriction on people bringing back airguns as part of baggage when returning from overseas. FIRST PLEASE read this entire thread - page 1 onwards before commenting...tirths";p="45914 wrote:Perhaps I missed out somehow. Can you provide me the link of the page if possible. Within this thread you fill find that most airguns (the ones that satisfy the deal wood test) are LEGALLY OUTSIDE the purview of the Arms Act and are THEREFORE NOT LEGALLY "firearms" or as you term them "weapons". It follows that any & all restrictions placed on firearms import, carrying, possession etc. DO NOT apply to these airguns as they are legally NOT CONSIDERED firearms. Just because anyone chooses to call an airgun a "weapon" DOES NOT make it into a legal firearm with all associated restrictions.
SECOND - there is an entire separate thread covering REAL LIFE experiences of people who have imported airguns via the personal baggage route - both .177 & .22 cal. How do you think the customs chaps allowed them through if it is illegal?
Cheers!

Next elections ! Alas next elections this sports will suffer more. For two to two and a half years the third front govt. which will come to power will be full of communists, radicals, illetrates, criminals and idiots.TwoRivers";p="45891 wrote:"How can an air rifle ever be classified as a firearm"? Whatever is to be done needs to be done very soon or nothing will happen for the next three years.

Importing non competion air pistols
Dear Friends
Please help me with this. I am well aware by now that we can import competion air pistols of .177 if we are registered with state rifle shooting academy. Now my query is that what are the legal hassles that I may jump into if i try to import air pistols of .177 cal like Walther CPP99 or Beretta XXtreme which are not used in shooting competition.
please help me out buddies
thx

Re: Importing non competion air pistols
As long as you are a member of any district/state or of the NRA you can import ANY pistol/rifle of .177 caliber.
From where did you get this nonsense about being allowed to import only competition specific air arms?

Doesnt the wood plank test only apply to the air rifles/pistols you import as baggage? The ones being imported by post are never tested or checked for power.

There is no compulsion to conduct the test, it is entirely at the discretion of the inspecting official(s).yash3_great";p="47910 wrote: Doesnt the wood plank test only apply to the air rifles/pistols you import as baggage? The ones being imported by post are never tested or checked for power.
