Three trophies with one shot!

A story from 1940s.

This happened in Rajasthan, then erstwhile Rajputana state.

A party of hunters was going to check the buffalo bait tied in the jungle near Baira Moaria expecting to bag the Tiger which thronged that area.

While crossing the Jungle track which crossed close to river Chambal, the Ford in which they were travelling went over a crocodile crosing the road.

The crock was crushed dead. It was loaded on the back of a following Jeep.

They approached the Machan site and positioned themselves early by 4 PM.

At sunset a Panther approached the kill and tried to take on the bait.

Just then the Tiger who had also arrived at the bait, jumped on the Panther and in the ensueing fight killed it.

After which it proceeded to kill the Buffalo bait and began eating it.

While it was engrossed in its Dinner, the Shikaris took a careful aim from the Machaan about 20 yards away on a Semul tree and placed a shot in the neck with the 465 India Nitro Express. THe cover shot also an accompalished Shikari carried a 450/400 Double Rifle, A William Evans made by James Purdey.

Thus by firing only one shot from the 465 India NE, three animals were bagged in that outing !
