Mack The Knife,

Nice photos of targets. I am curious where did you performed shooting with IOF 0.22 Rifle
Are you allowed to visit the range and use your own weapon?
For example, can you go to Karni Singh Range in Delhi and shoot with your own 0.22 rifle or handgun?
Is it not mandatory to rent a professional sporting rifle/handgun from the club and shoot with that?
Also can you shoot 0.32 handgun in the range?

I do not know thats why I am asking?

Hi Rahul,

I shoot at the KSRA range in Bangalore.

If you are a member of the Karni Singh range feel free to use your .22 rifle or handgun. Ditto for the .32 handgun.

Thanks for the information. Thats encouraging.
As for membership currently I am a member of IFG only

I do not even have a license. But yes I have learned shooting
from handgun and rifle during my college years and I a love this
forum and want to contribute.

I am planning to get licenses for handgun and rifle but that is in separate message and forum.
I was just trying to verify the possibilities because I do not want to get guns and then let them rust.
By the way can you help me by giving links for understanding the availability and pricing of
of 0.32 handgun cartridges and 0.22 rifle/handgun cartridges in India? Because if I get licenses
and if I get Karnbi Singh membership then for shooting I will need cartridges?
I want to understand that beforehand so that I know.

Please post your query regarding availability of ammunition in the relevant section.

Ideally, the range should supply you ammo at subsidised rates but I am told this is not always the case at the Karni Singh range.

One cannot enter the Karni Singh range if you are not a member. As a guest you can only admire the neel-gai that pay you occasional visits, but you cannot touch a gun.

The range will issue you a .22 or .32 or 12 bore pistol/rifle/shotgun based on your arms license eligibility.

The range DOES NOT provide ammunition. The DSRA rep comes there on his own sweet will and gives you ammo again based on your arms license eligibility. He will actually keep your arms license until you return back the empties.

There are also some shotgn shooting lessons available there. Instructor will provide the 12 bore O/U shotgun and 50 rounds of 7 1/2 or 9 imported cartridges.

Price an astronomical Rs. 5000 for 50 rounds of shooting practise.

It is not an initiative by the range, but the organization holding the training merely books this range for the round of training.
