Sound of 24 gram trap loads of 3 Dram Eq. modern powder goes as high as 180 to 200 Db.
But most earmuffs from good manufacturers seem to meet the case.
My personal preference is the smaller plug type, from Beretta and it does the job fine. With the regular headphone type ear muffs i seem to hit the butt many times when shouldering the gun in Sporting clays or skeet. For trap they are fine for I shoot trap with a pre mount.

I used these for the longest time.
These were cheap and very effective, I still keep them as a spare set in my range bag. They are Silencio brand, S&W also puts their name on them.
