Importing Ammo via personal baggage

Has anybody imported ammo recently via this route,per the present rules all Licensees are allowed to bring
in 50 rounds each yr for the Cal endorsed on their Lic.
Pl do share your experinces.

QUite a few people must have but the hassles involved generally discourage a person from doing so.

Take the case of Kynoch. I wanted to import some .375 H & H flanged.

An import permit was required.
Flight details had to be filed.
A Kynoch representative will arrive at your departure port ( Heathrow in this case ) and personally place the consignment in your check in baggage.

On arrival explain the customs in Delhi.

On domestic airport explain to the screening guys on the gate.

Then try explaining all this once again to the domestic airline staff.

All this for 50 cartridges ?

Better off buying from dealers in India itself.

Kynoch said they have Ilahi Baksh of Moradabad UP as their stockist.

Ilahi baksh can sell only 10 cartridges a day on a licence.

If you want 50 one has to stay for 5 working days in Moradabad.

Will shooting sports ever be encouraged with all this ?

The Govt. of India and many other international authorities are more in support of the anti gun lobby than anything.

In the end one swears that he will buy an IOF .315 and use nothing else.

i do not tot lay agree with u on this, as we in India have no effective lobby campaign, or shall i say no lobbying is done with politicians, no measures have been taken to show the finance ministry how much import duty they will get if import was made easy.

we can blame the customs office(who only follow rules) we can blame the government (who elected by us), or we can blame ourselves, either way blaming won't get the work done, only and until someone does the work, then it will be done.

I agree and once again emphasise that a proper line of action has to be initiated for a Parlimentary debate and a lot of media support is required for this.

Shahid, I think its worth going through the above algorithm you mentioned, to get those heart warming red and yellow KYNOCH , fresh off the factory, as compared to 20 year old 'maal' buffed and 'brassoed' -especially in 375, where it can mean a matter of life and death!

since we are moving on to a different thread here, so lets bring this thread to an end.

a Parlimentary debate can only be hold when the voters apply some pressure to their MP.

MP is ready to put it in parliment. But MP is ill informed about Gun laws and whether Diana requires a licence or not, he thinks .22 is only a rifle.

He knows little about firearms apart from the Webley & Scott .32 he wears in a belt on his Pajamas and the sten gun his shadow follower carries along with a bunch of six 303 weilding policemen.

And when the MP gets a bit high and tipsy he thinks firing Kynoch cartridges is the ultimate fun.

A complete document has to be prepared, then trnslated into the Mps comprehension language, Hindi complete with Agnishastra and hindi for ammunition whatever it is and given to him to table and read.

However the BJP hardly lets the parliment function. Scheduled business is hardly finished on a parliment day, forget about admitting questions.

Now there will be a walkout tomorrow over rising petrol price. It is OPEC not the Indian Govt. to blame but who is listening ? In BJP rule as if petrol prices were never raised.

Lets get on with preparing this draft and then getting it translated in Hindi to be tabled by monsoon session.

100% agree with you, on this.

where and who will give us a working fact sheet to show how badly the govt is missing out on import tax? and how much more will be raised if restriction is remove in manufacturing arms for civilian market.?

and who will take it to the people who are able to show the light to the govt.?

Hi can a friend wh is NRA(USA) member get in some .22 cartridges with his bagage as he has a permit(LICENCE) for that cal.of course the permit is valid in usa. he doesnt have any arms licence i india
