Engravings on Indian Guns

Post by art_collector » Sun Apr 27, 2008 11:10 am

Take a look at engravings on Indian DBBL IOF tested guns. The engravings are deep and it takes about 30 days of dedicated work to get these kind of results.

One rarely comes across such kind of engravings on guns here.

AC Cannot really make out the details in the picture, but if you have the gun in your collection I'd like to come down for a looksee sometime (if that's all right with you)....

Cheers!

Is the engraving done prior to proof testing? If it is done subsequently, considering the poor quality of the steel used in the desi stuff and the deep engraving, there is the possibility of the chamber bursting along the engraving lines producing an even more beautiful work of art.

AC,penpusher does have a point, better be careful before letting off.
I guess the normal practice abroad would be to have the gun proof tested post engraving.
Are the local Indian guns actually sent to the IOF for proof testing :?:

Yes they are. Many manufacturers then turn the barrels, post proof testing to make them lighter.Customer be damned. It's karma after all.
