Indian conditions-use no 1 birdshot. If its close enough, will act as a single 1 oz projectile, within the confines of a room-has caused enough havoc.The last two deaths caused by shotguns were by bank guards using a short bbl shotty and no.1 shot.regardless of a lot of hypebole about shotgun and bird shot being ineffective, the results are pretty painful.The average indian 'chor' is most times, not high on PCP or other veterinary drugs, and humans are soft skinned animals... stay safe!

Tigers have been shot with no. 7 shot, yes but at a very short range of barely three yards. It just sprang out of a bush on a group of partridge shooters. Tiger too is a soft skinned animal and the No. 7 shot ( Eley field load ) of 1/8 Oz had passed through solid like a bullet.

Cut the BS Shahid,AFAIK there is no known case that has been documented,unless somebody you know has done it,which again is debatable.

Use No. 7 or 9 with 32 grams load. The robber will never forget you in his whole life

Every month he will visit a doctor for a surgey. But make sure that the distance should be more than 40 yards when you shoot him.

The issue of firing at the intruder has been discussed before including the key aspect on legal ramifications.
Lot can be done to ensure that intruder doest break undetected into the house and that all the way into the rooms-- secure the castle first. One of the members here narrated how his mother shot the robbers right where sun doesnt shine and if I recall she took shot at them in the courtyard. Lesson here was she had been taught how to shoot and handle guns. Very few of us take the time to teach others about gun safety and handling of gun.

Then there is a luck aspect how a grizzly was shot with .22 lucky shot. Keep safe

Jokes apart eljefe does speak from his experience from treating gun shot victims and yes Docs are vets and vice versa in literal sense.

killing might be instinctive or optional, it depends on the objective as they say "Nothing in this world is worth dying for, but some things are worth killing for."
danish with out any punning,you mentioned a distance of 40 yards for optimum performance but isn't a very long distance for a home defense scenario and i will never try to shoot at somebody who is 40 yards away, how can i judge his intentions. if he is fleeing away i don't need to shoot him as use of lethal force is out of question. if he is coming to you and you know his intentions so well that you decide to use gun, again the distance is too far for a #7 bird shot or even for a buck shot to transfer any reasonable amount of energy to target. any way that is my point of view.

Documented in Hints on Tiger Shooting - Hindustan TImes Press, by Col. Kesri Singh a very celebrated Shikari.

I had some Eley Alphamax Heavy Load Cartridges lyeing, it does not say what they exact load is. I presume it being aroung 50g anybody know the exact load?

Are there 50g loads,the max I have heard off are 42g,should be mentioned on the cartridge or on the box.
