hi firstly i would like to say that i am totally against indian guns but recently acquired one indian over under manufactured by modern arms jammu and i must say it is pretty decent to shoot and to own. it is better than the mehar singh and sons over under and in my opinion much better than iof shotguns.
and for around rs 23000-25000 it is not very expensive either.

Hi Navdeep,

No A-5 in the near future or possibly ever. Which is why I would be even more grateful if people would stop chit-chatting on this thread and answer the question instead.

It's a two page thread but with just two pertinent answers.

Hi Visho, could you post some of the photographs of the gun plse. I am looking to buy an Indian make myself for trap shooting. Do you think the modern o/u is a good option?

SS

Modern O/U comes with single piece ejector where as meher singh & sons O/U comes with two piece ejector. If you compare price wise then i think there is not much difference. But see both the guns before buying.

hi danish,

you recommended the Mehar Singh to me on 'orkut' too. I checked out a few other posts here related to it. One in particular said "if you want to use it for rounds of skeet (100 rounds a month) then stay clear of the indian make". Is it ture? also what is the advantage of a double ejector over a single one? If i load the gun with 2 rounds and fire one and open it again, will both rounds eject or just the fired one? Is the ejector really helpful as i have often seen skeptisim over the functioning of the Indian made ones.

Thank,
SS

made in india over/under

Post by jaz » Wed Apr 16, 2008 11:42 am

:? I have sold my old 12 bore GIRCO although it was gun with good firing power , but i do not undersatand why manufacturers in India not use EN 19 or EN24 steel for shotgun barrels , people are ready to pay for good gun but I wonder manufacturers are using either mild steel or old junk steam pipes.
Is there any manufacturer in Jammu who make well balanced o/u with EN24 barrel , ventilated RIB & Ejectors , full choke barrel

If any body in the forum is having good experience with made in india o/u quality gun kindly tell.

if you are a serious Skeet shooter.. it is highly recommeded that you go for an imported one. unless your shoulders are as strong as the Great Khali's

why manufacturers in India not use EN 19 or EN24 steel for shotgun barrels ?

Well thats used mostly by Khurmi & Mehar Singh & sons Jammu. But at present their production is suspended heard some sales tax dues and family litigation has resulted in the stoppage of production.

Best O/U is made my Modern Gun Works , Jammu. Try finding their guns Rohit. U won't be disappointed.
