.243 winchester as its called,a very popular caliber in north america.i hope its pretty difficult to find it in indian market but if there is any chance of the license holder visiting the states,it would be a decent rifle rifle in india as he can bring 50 cartridges.this is just my personal opinion :)

The gentleman having the 243 picks his ammo from the states when ever he is visiting the US. Suprisingly even his wife has a 243 on her licence..though ofcourse the makes are different.

i think the gents in white would seize the whole lot if its more than 50.i may be better to convince a dealer to import the ammo but im not sure of their minimum limits and prices.

can a dealer import on behalf of 3 -4 persons who own a similar caliber gun..

we should have a survey of the rarest caliber guns the group owns and then have one of the dealers do the needful.

Yes .243 ammo is often available in Indian market. It is quite a popular calibre in USA as well as UK where it is the lowest legal calibre to shoot Deer ( Roe Deer etc. )

I have used it in India too for some target practise, I did have a Ruger Mark II M 77 in this calibre, actually owned by an uncle but lying around in our place for quite a few years. After his death it has been sold now.

Winchester, Federal, Norma, Remington, Dynamite Nobel, RWS, Lapua, S & B all manufacture ammo in various bullet types for this. In India too I am sure some dealers would hold stocks. 70 grains ammo is common for the .243

hi naga :) i think dealers would be ready if u ask 500 or so rounds and u can share them between those 4 or 5 owners.this is just my personal opinion and i dont know the actual scenario nowadays :)

243 is not on the list of ammunition permitted to be imported by dealers in India.

There you go.A rifle in .243 in India ,is just a very expensive stick and not a very good one at that.Suggest you buy a stick.Unless the fellow gets off on cycling the action and going ,"Bang, you are dead" stay away from it  .The IOF .315 would be much more useful.
