Gung ho Mack The Knife, Ragi and frogs doing their usual magic I see. Lefty has a winner in that TFO rod, eh? Now that sounds tempting, lets see...Atleast you were out fishing on your anniversary-Last week, I came home at 10pm on my anniversary( after a looong dayat work) to find the bride, the kids and the dog fast asleep and a major repast on the table.
Wate level seems to be way down, but the 'little' guys are growing up and being found
You got a couple of lucky sights in the big murral repertoire.Remember the pots and pans trip,?I was out with Raju alone and came back with a lost frog and the story of being strafed by a brahminy kite and a biiig murral taking my frog at fisrt strike? I know it wasnt a figmentation of my imagent, then!
Looks like you'll get the big one!
Bash on regardless
Axx
Best to your father, God bless and good healing.

Re: Fishing with Inder and Sunil at Forbes.
Asif,
The TFO is a decent rod but a little too powerful for the normal run-of-the-mill murrel or even a 4kg mahseer. However, it can get pretty crowded even with three people in the coracle, so carrying two or three rods for different applications can really get in the way. For the time being this has become my do it all rod atleast where Headworks, Forbes and the cottage lake is concerned. It's short length is a boon whilst in the tub but a handicap when fishing off the embankment.
Now whilst relatively lighter tackle provides lot more fun it also increases the chances of loosing the fish, especially on our rocky, snag infested stretches. What's more if you loose a fish with a treble in its mouth chances of stapling the mouth shut and thereby killing the fish increase. A lghter tackle would also require you to play the fish longer and this could exhaust the fish mortally.
BTW, all four of my murral were caught using my trusty Mepps Agila No.4 spinner. I started Sunil off on frogs but once he got the hang of it, he too shifted to a spinner. The only one who uses a frog to deadly effect (anything from a dozen to a score of murrel in a single session) is Prathap. Then again, he just doesn't cast anywhere but is actively looking for signs of their presence and that sort of water craft comes with years of experience.
Regarding the trip on the 29th March...I cannot miss the parent teacher meeting but what if we start from Bangalore around 12 noon (or sooner, if possible) and then fish through the night at Forbes and be back in Bangalore by 7 a.m. or so? I'd much rather do this than go to the range.

Mack The Knife, I had a vertebral fracture in Dec...no way I'm riding a two wheeler with Mickey-or he'll take the mickey outta me
I'm more inclined for the 29 afternoon to 7am next day trip.Sure Pran join us-I am packing Biryani and Kababs for Mack The Knife and me, and lots of hot water and cuppa noodles for you If you get me a decent marral, say less than a kg, I'll even cook it for you
Pran, lets hope you can start 'plugging' productively
