Have you tried a full-sized 1911 .45ACP in the same specification as your Kimber ? The high grip cut and extended beavertail really negate recoil.......and you could always get a gun with a compensated barrel which would help reduce recoil even more.............................Perhaps your next gun ?
Yup, I like inside-the-waist-band holsters as well - but in a cross draw mode. The high elbow stance isn`t comfortable ( or very fast ) if the holster is on the same side as your shooting hand.
So you live close to the Massachusets border ? Presumably Connecticut then as I know that they issue carry permits ?
My carry piece has been a Sig in .45ACP for a couple years now, the recoil issue is more for my dad and more when we're shooting for fun at the range. The Sig 220 is a great pistol, but I have the full sized one, and it can tend to be a little heavy and bulky, especially when I am trying to conceal it in a light outfit (e.g. cargo shorts). Of course if I could (The law allows me to but I don't think I want to) wear it in open view like a Law Enforcement Officer, I'd be rocking the Sig anytime and all the time.
Oh, at some point in the future, I definitely want a 1911 in .45ACP, recoil or not. I'll give it some time though, and understand and learn more about 1911s before I make a choice, and I know one person I'll definitely be talking to, during my quest
I live in New Hampshire, North of Massachusetts, but like I said, only a few miles from the border.
Mass allows carry permits, depending on what town you live in, just not for non-citizens. I am not a US citizen yet (I'd take the test tomorrow if I could but the law requires you to wait a long time before you can become eligible). I used to live in MA until two years ago, but as a non-citizen, was only allowed to own non-large capacity rifles or shotguns, no pistols. NH, doesn't have any such restrictions, for citizens or non-citizens, as long as you have a clear background and legal status, of course. So I packed my bags and moved to New Hampshire.
I just don't live in Mass, but I work there and spend a lot of my free time (I train there, have friends, I shop there, etc.) there as well which limits my carry possibilites. The gun club that I belong to is in NH though, so it works out for when I go shooting.
