="umangvarma";p="22356"]Just got this clarified after making a few phone calls earlier today.
HI! Steyrshot

1) Duty exemptions will apply to ALL (not just renown shot category) who qualify the NSCC and wish to import.
Yeah just chk the notification on the NRAI site and it clearly states that "all the shooter who shoot mqs are renowned shots" so all the benifits accrue
2) Yes there is a list of weapons pre-approved for each event (but its pretty comprehensive as the manufacturers see to it that their products are added to the list as they release them).
Donno but havnt run into any problems due to this before ..
3) Lock in period going by precedence (as applicable to gun clubs/ranges/organizations) is 3 yrs not 5 as mentioned, i will confirm this tomorrow.
4) Ammunition imports should also fall into the duty free category. Ammo quota caps were increased earlier ... one of my friends on the shotgun circuit mentioned 15,000/- to me, ill ask him again if someone needs that info.
It is 15000 carts. during the year. The notification of the sports min. is there on the NRAI site
5) All competitive shooters will now have a registration and ID number (like a drivers license), and i suppose all your import details will be attached with this new ID number.
Theres some kinda link to that effect on the NRAI site but they have not yet declared anything about it ..
6) I'm sure someone can confirm this for me, but i have been told by many free pistol shooters that importing spare parts eg barrels, triggers, replacement springs and firings pins is far easier now once you have your weapon on your license. Many of the items like springs, grips etc do not need any special approval ... i suppose a rifle barrel definitely would, but i have seen many shotgun shooters with 2-3 spare barrel sets (but linked to one weapon).[/quote]
Yes u can import quiet a few spare and acessories thru the mail. You are allowed interchangable or spare barrels in rifles too and if it gets worn out u can get a replacement too.
Anyways whatever is happening is good for the sport...and the shooters
