While the notification clearly states that only .177 cal air-guns can be imported in this manner, does anyone have an idea as to how strictly this calibre restriction is enforced in practice?
Cheers!

The last point of check is the a*** in the audit. He will try to pi on your parade by checking the caliber. I was stumped for a while as my Qb's barrel didn't have the caliber on it.
But luckily my exporter had written 0.177 on all the relevant documents. Otherwise the rest of the crew aren't a pain long as you flash the gazette and a few certs proving that you are a shooter.
So might consider a rifle that can have barrels swapped like my QB 78 or anything else. You can courier the .177 and then get the .22 barrel in.

by the way mac1 charged $36 as postage for the IZH Baikal by courier.

Dev,
Was just wishful thinking on my part... thanks for bringing me back to reality!
The courier charges from Mac1 seem a lot more reasonable (as compared to others like Pyramidair etc.).
Thanks for the info
Cheers!

Brillaint man...I hadn't thought of doing the springer route as that is the most suitable airrifle for our nation. Yeah Mac1 is good but replies from Tim took 3 weeks this time...which was good cause it saved me the money I was gonna spend on getting seals which I have now improvised.

Re: Notification regarding import of .177"cal. air-rifl
Thanx. I had been under the impression that duty is almost 100% of import value. Now this 35% seems quite reasonable. I have a couple of more clarifications to make.
1.Is there a restriction on the number of pistols/rifles that a shooter can import. If so, is it on the number or is it restricted to once in a year or once in two or so?
2.A memebership of a District Rifle Association(affiliated to the State Rifle Association) is enough to be eligible to import.
Please, please confirm.
Thanx once again.

Re: Notification regarding import of .177"cal. air-rifl
Yasho,
1.There is no limit to the no. of air rifles or pistols that you can import in a year .However as the notification covers air rifles/pistols for use by the person importing them, I am sure that more than one or two in a year would attract the attention of the Customs Authorities and they might start investigating if the person is doing it for profit.
2.Read the notification again. It clearly says that the import is also open for members of District Rifle Associations.

Well, I wish it was a TX200... sweet gun, but a little beyond my current budget for an air-rifledev";p="15195 wrote:wAIT I am seeing something on my comp...hmmmm...looks like you with a TX200
Was thinking along the lines of a Baikal MP 513M - reputedly does about 750 fps in .22 cal (with heavy pellets)! Well over 20 ftLb of energy straight out of the box, or so I have been reading... Not pretty looking, but sounds like a bargain...
Cheers!

I am not sure if what I am writing explains things but say if you buy one in Jan and then another in June...no harm done. I was shocked to find that I had bought two airguns in the same year .
