Re: my first knife
If you cannot purchase a proper sharpening stone, you can tape some abrasive paper to a board and use that. I do not know your local brands, so just get an abrasive paper made for metal. 200 grit for starting an edge and 400-800 for polishing the edge. You might try asking a local woodworker where he gets his sharpening stones, or maybe he may even have a broken section he could give you.cyrixoutside";p="33768 wrote:hi

Re: my first knife
Any hardware store would be able to sell you a sharpening stone. They are not very expensive and from what I remember, sell for about a 100 rupees.Try to get the best one that is there in the market. The main problem would be maintaining the right angle while sharpening the knife.

thanks rajat.
penpusher is right about the sharpening stone.I use one to sharpen my knives and it has two different grades(even referred to as mesh),one grade on each side of the stone..........like for a rough and fine finish.wth a little practice u can get the right edge. But,its better to go in for a professional imported sharpener for your knife. The more experienced IFG members would be able to guide u better regarding the foreign stuff. If U happen to use this stone dont forget to use oil while sharpening.
