Ummm...that present rod and reel may just work on small specimens caught from the shoreline but I definitely wouldn't risk them when fishing from a boat in the open sea. I would give the shore fishing a try but you may need to respool with higher BS braid. I would also assume that a heavy mono or wire leader would be compulsory.

Pumping your bank manager (Can it, penpusher and Grumpy!) for a loan may be a better idea.
