Come on, I know better than that. On that page, there are no prices, they say to call/email for prices and I just wondered if the guys here knew the prices and/or if someone ALREADY priced a ticket to Port Blair.

Guy's this place is definitely worth a visit,if the murral in WASI or the carps at the pumphouse bent the rod
,just cant imagine what the fight would be like with these monsters.

Not to the extent that it does in our freshwater system where netting and dynamiting is common but if you do the math - 80 or 100 fish per week x 25 weeks = 2000 or 2500 fish per season per operator.
These are still virgin waters but the number of operators is now increasing (there are charters from Thailand as well) and if people aren't careful it could cause a problem.
To be honest, it is a question that is better answered by someone who knows about the ecology of these waters and reefs.

Sharief, I can check but it may be somewhere in the region of U.S. $ 250.00 to 500.00 per day! I am told there are some operators that charge U.S.$1000.00 per day.
Also, if I am not mistaken, they only accept payment in Euros rather than USD.
If you send them an e-mail, it may take a few days before you get a reply as they are out fishing most of the time during high season.

Apparently even big mahseer in strong currents cannot approach the power of a big salt water fish.
Rusty,Asif let me know if you decide to head in that direction.
If finances permit I am hoping to do this next year.

Hey Guys,
Just wondering what happens to those mammoth size fishes after the catch. I hope most of them are tossed back in the ocean after choosing one for the table. Pictures/videos serve better then a mounted fish imho.

Are you entertaining visions of fishing in the Andamans?
Ask the IA boys if they could be used for lure fishing for mahseer on the Cauvery. If they say yes, I suggest you keep them.
You wont need them in the Andamans as all the tackle is provided for.

Herewith Darran's reply regarding charter costs.
Hi Mack The Knife,
Base price for the boat is INR 20000 per day per boat. Maximum of 3 anglers per boat.
Hotel stay and transfers work out to between Rs.2000 to Rs.5000 for a double room per night.
Fishing based out of Port Blair, we provide all trolling tackle, lures and our best guiding!!!!

Thanks for the details,guess the best time there would be Oct-Mar.
Though it might not be a bad idea to try the some sea fishing a lil closer,like Goa or something to get the feel,I will be there late Jan or early Feb.
