Re: Going to Visit IHP Dealer in Delhi
HI kanwal.
An IHP dealer......do they give us some special rates. Why I asked was cos the national airguns are available in plenty in the markets also. Please inform their rates if you have them with you.

Got a very encouraging pm from sunilss regarding my query of mod for my .22 IHP scoping for which he suggested "webley rails" which can be stuck on the IHP with araldite and a diana spring to retune etc the IHP. couldnt get sunilss to reclarify my query so far( he must be busy) but have this query to members as to what exactly are these webley rails and where would they be availaible and also what would be the cost involved ( i know how much the araldite costs!).if the arrangement is cost effective and also if the scope retains its correct sight/graticule picture/cant etc on such rails and also how much scope travel do they permit etc or that if this is a fixed mounting.also cost of a diana spring and will it indeed make a diffrence in MV.thanks ,andy.

Cherian,
It's more of a beginner's 10-metre target pistol and you would need to refill after 30 or 40 shots. A match as you may know comprises of 60 record shots + sighters.
If you are on a budget, I would recommend you atleast add some more to the kitty and get yourself an IZH-46M single stroke pneumatic.
If you are a NRAI member you can buy one from them (subject to availability) or ask around for a second hand one. The other option is to import.

Hi I own one IHP CO2 pistol; matter of fact one of the very first ones. And as Rustum says, its always a compromise, as is with everything cheaper.
But the reasons that I have one are:
1. I am not a very keen Pistol shooter.
2. I am a smoker and something that someone said a long time ago about shaky hands, never encouraged me to actually invest more in a better true-match-quality pistol, the first time itself.
3. I just wanted to practice at home, scare a few neighbors and/or strangers/workers who sometimes loiter around my house.
4. It was damn easy to get one at the Chennai Mavlankar some years ago.
Now, most of the above were sated with what I have. But... as the story goes:
1. Refilling CO2 is probably 10 to the power of thirteen point five times more difficult and/or taxing than having a Compressed air one.
2. I actually used one in a match in Chennai and scored damn bad. (I had earlier thought I could'nt shoot worse)
3. The shots are never with constant velocity, and the recoil too, is never the same. There is always a slight variation, and sometimes, in matches, one's mind would waver and start predicting the 'next type' of recoil that might happen.
4. The CO2 dies out suddenly! Its like sometimes crazy dude ... sometimes it lasts for a whole 60 shots and sometimes for less than 30. A god average, as Rustum pointed out is in the 30-40 range, although Dr. Shirsat had told me that the newer models guaranteed 75.
5. Wheater has more than a bad effect on the velocity - CO2 again!
6. The grip is Awesome - awesome as in smooth bathroom tiles! I made one for me and was a little happier (Mostly because I made it)
7. The grip, again, I found is not in enough of an angle away from the perpendicular to the line of fire. I put in a washer to the front of the grip where it touches the main body, and got a slightly more and better angle.
8. The material itself, unlike probably all other imported counterparts, is highly susceptible to rusting and such. It has to be kept extremely well all the time. And one good ol chap Tony, at our range, offered to blue out the barrel. But just doing the front end, made him return back the stuff to me at his earliest!
Now, after having said all this, what else could I have expected for 7K. And compare this to the 2K or 3K stuff available, then I would have deeper and nicer things to say about a much better balance, defnite better velocity and accuracy, good sights, a not-so-bad case even.
Actually, just go ahead and buy one. That way
1. You will be happy buying an Indian one, thus donating more to Indian R & D, which may come back to you in the form of a better gun,
2. Its not too expensive and has a pretty good life, and can always be used for something or the other, in case it turns out to be real bad for matches.
3. You can always blame your bad scores on this

Have read most of the posts on the IHP but just want yr suggestion as to which is a better airgun between the Model 35 (.22) or Model 35 (.177) or Model 25 (.22) or Model 25 (.177)
Am an avid shooter and also shoot Trap/Skeet but wanted an airgun for plinking around.
Many thanks in adv for all yr help.
