I`m certain that there isn`t a DIY kit Dodger.

May just have to look into converting it ourselves then. Fortunately, the chap who owns this rifle has an engineering background.

Let's see if we can come up with something. Will keep you posted via e-mail.

I`d be much more inclined to find out why it isn`t cycling properly......and a DIY job isn`t going to be at all easy.

Where did you get this idea that it isn't cycling properly? It cycles very well.

It was just one batch of S&B ammo that was causing the problem. This same ammo jammed up the bolt for approximately 10 to 30 seconds on a Winchester Mod.70 and a Remington 700. It's definitely the ammo that is at fault here not the rifle.

The reason I want to convert it into a pump action is because the owner wants to free up a slot on his licence and has asked me to put this rifle on my licence. Since I do not have a Prohibited Bore licence, I need to make this rifle comply with the non-prohibited bore category requirements.
and a DIY job isn`t going to be at all easy.
As far as firearms in India are concerned, there is absolutely bug*3r-all that is easy.

So when did you GIVE the reason for wanting to convert it ?
OK, agreed, you have plenty of problems - but this is a bigger one than most.
Have you downloaded a schematic yet.
I don`t doubt that if you attempt the conversion you`ll manage it.......even if it is eventually.

If that's supposed to be a defence, it's a piss poor one.

I never said the rifle wasn't cycling properly, you just assumed that.

Now go sit in the naughty corner.

So why not tell me ?
Why be so precious ?
I don`t know about a `piss poor excuse` as it`s more a case of you communicating piss-all.
I`ve looked at my Gunparts exploded diagram but it`s useless - doesn`t show all the components - and can`t find one on the web that doesn`t require payment but I expect they`ll be one somewhere. Just needs the right choice of words........and `schematic` isn`t one of them.

Right, the only diagram I can find is the same one that appears in the Gunparts catalogue - several sources offer it. I`ve just sent a copy to both your email addresses in case No.1 a/c refuses to deliver attachments because it considers them spam. Also sent along a Rem 760 pump diagram as it might help your planning.
The 742 diagram isn`t complete but it does, at least, show how easy it is to shut off the gas port.
If you go looking yourself be careful because one site refused to let me exit unless I downloaded some software........and my security was having a fit. Had to shut down the PC in order to `escape`.

First the otters and now this.

Have a look at one of my replies on page 1 of this thread....

"So far this rifle has jammed when using Soddit & Buggerit ammo but then so did a Mod.70 Pre-64 bolt rifle. Something wrong with that particular batch of ammo. Which, unfortunately, seem to be the only fresh rounds available in Bangalore at present."

Let me know if you need English classes. We can start with the alphabet.

LOL. Got the bug*3r!

Thanks for the diagrams, Grumpy.

Having one for the 760 pump should help give us some idea.

Why? Will it jam the 742 permanently?

I have read about this round but never seen it.

I also vaguely recall Mehul, me and probably a few others discussing it and it was supposedly not upto the mark.

However, if the owner of the 742 agrees, I don't mind trying it. Provided I can get it, that is.

P.S.: Any idea what the IOF rounds cost?

I think it is for about Rs.60.You would have to check with the local dealer for the prevailing price.
