The part about all semi-autos being PB, which leads to us folk having to consider butchering nice old guns to comply with the law? Or the fact that the M1 Garand cannot be easily converted to a PA or something along those lines? :(

Cheers!

I meant the latter - but now you mention it, the former as well. So both.
Just remember that we aren`t allowed centrefire semi-autos ( .22 rfs are OK )........ and I used to have an M-14 National Match a long time ago.
However we can buy `straight pull` AR15s......and AKs ( Saiga ) ...... and Dragunovs.........

In the U.K..

They are legal in India as well, provided you can get a 'Prohibited Bore' licence for one.

Yes, .22 rimfires ( short, long, long rifle, magnum ) are all legal in the UK.
The .17 HMR and Mach 2 aren`t legal because the legislation was enacted before they existed.....and nobody has bothered to change the law.

It's the M1 Garand and by the time they come into the market they have already been butchered to some extent. The folks at the Base Workshop(or is it the IOF) take care of this by drilling holes in the gas chamber.

The `gas chamber` ?
The cylinder below the barrel in which the piston travels ?

Try phoning them.
I have to admit that if someone can`t be bothered to answer their email I tend to work on the basis that they can stuff their gun/product. I really resent having to be polite and cheery on the `phone - it`s just not my natural state ( ! ) - when I can just send an email.

Well, I did finally get a reply last night - "sorry, we can only do this in-house....".

Some pretty complicated maching involved then.........and they don`t want to be sued if the conversion work isn`t up too par. That`s the usual American reason for refusing to supply parts only.

A full strip down is necessary then.
Check particular that the gas port isn`t partially blocked or that there isn`t rust in the cylinder/on the piston.

Will take a closer look one of these days and then get back to you if I have any questions.

I don't suppose you would know off any other shop that would carry a DIY conversion kit, would you?.

Must have a look at Brownell's.
