Indians for fishing?? the pumphouse jig...

Post by eljefe » Mon Oct 29, 2007 11:15 am

A message at 9-30pm , while i was battling Delhi's infamous traffic jams, triggered off the latest episode.
Kenneth-Mahseerken to those who know was ready to rock at 5-30 am.
The celebrations at Brannigans celebrating IFG anniversary were reaching a crescendo, and suddenly every one wanted IN
So I reach my destination, whip up a hasty bait of bread, rosgolla(damn, these Bongs really hav something going!), vanilla essence and the typical 'Cauvery bait', only use atta OD'd on hing (asafoetida) instead of ragi...
5-30am sees 3 cars rendezvous at Kens place and off we go.
Pump house at 7-30am and the bait is cast. And cast and cast and cast with a few nibbles.
By about 11-30, with not a nibble, Dev, Anupam, Abhijeet and LM have to head back...or they would be declared AWOL
Sam from IA joins us and Sanjay, Ken, Sam and I head out for another secret 'Jodh' and the magic begins

Image

After a couple of false 'astartes' Sanjay got the hang of his new Berkley Shimano combo and with Ken giving a solid enfilade cover, the catch rate was on.
I decided to chip in- and, wonder of wonders, using a tiny no 10 hook on my 300g Mahseer rod (Yes, people do grab the wrong rod in the dark  ) actually giot 2 tiny 2inch tiddlers! then a biggish cat and the coup de grace-a turtle...so Ken's turned the heat on me by passing the 'turtleken' hex??

With only the sweet, bread bait, Ken and Sanjay were firing all cylinders-like the carp couldnt get enough of the stuff!

Image

At 2-30, the silent alarms in my head were going at it like a organist going with all stops out and I'm-"please guys, can we pack it in the next half hour?"
and then I cast out again and again and again-so 4-30 comes up, we reluctantly pack in and head for home.

What was meant to be a quick return by lunch, turned out to be a full days fishing :D

Great trip, pleasant day, good catch, the bread bait prepared by the good Doc worked like magic.

....the Berkely was just awesome, made fishin easier and a lot more fun.

Let's do it again, perhaps this time Bhakra.

Cheers

Sanjay

Well one lot of the Delhi Darlings came back empty handed but with lots of fun and frolic... seem to be under someone's curse or something... the fish just elude us :(

NM was a new member on our expedition, and was a patient watcher of events.... hopefully he enjoyed himself too... Atleast we did enjoy his company...and look forward to more outings with him along... what say NM ?? :D

And our very own Dev babu, must've have had swollen legs driving all the way... and later a few spanks from the SWMBO !!

But a little disappointed on the fishing front... Hope next time we are lucky...

Hi Anupan,

Thanks a lot yaar...

I had great time with all of you.

I being a little reserve type, was initially not very sure how comfortable I would be with new friends.....but everyone made me quite at ease...

I really enjoyed my trip and look forward to next one....

Thanks,
Nishant
