Ashani and Browning 1910

Post by Lawman » Mon Oct 08, 2007 2:08 am

Hi, I think the IOF Ashani is a crude copy of Browning 1910. See the pictures.

Crude.. hmmm..

Maybe thats one way they could do an outright copy of an existing product and get away with an infringment of copyrights litigation.. The copys are so crude and unrealistic that the litigator would find it hard to prove that OFB products are 100% copys of existing browning models..

Very clever OFB.. They even have a tailormade market for their shoddy copys!

Hi Lawman,

It may look similar but thats where the similarity ends.

Other than the front of the frame that is made to look like that of the 1910, the rest of the gun is a very poor carbon copy of the Colt M1903 Pocket Hammerless. The only departure for the Colt design is the main spring. Instead of a separate mainspring, they lifted the browning design- wrapping the mainspring around the barrel. ...I should know- I own a 1910.
:)

It speaks volumes when the mammoth IOF advertises a 103 year old design as 'cutting edge technology'. It would be tolerable if it, at least, were done nicely. The point is they can't even reproduce a century old design competently, not to mention any question of finesse...plus they over-charge for the farcical exercise.

There in, lies the root of all my rants against the IOFB and its crooked antics.

Give me the Colt 1908 anyday.
What a beauty, wish we could get even a taurus version of it.

The gun in the pic is a beauty.

That's the epitome of how a fine firearm should be made and finished.

The concealed hammer Colt Pocket pistol mod.1903 is one of the most accurate "protection" models I have ever seen and shot in spite of their tiny sights. I wonder why the Rampant Colt in the medallion is facing the other way in the picture. The wooden slab grips do not seem to be original. Looks like you had them made as it should have been black plastic with the logo embossed on either side. I am sure you still have the original slabs with you.
