If I am not mistaken Asif (eljefe on this site) also studied (post graduated) in Davangere.

I don't know when you last saw Bangalore but it is no longer the sleepy old colonial town you remember. It's as bad as any of the Indian metros now. This is supposedly 'progress' or so people tell me.

However, for those who like the outdoors it still has a lot to offer and if one has like minded friends, then that does help.
