Re: Old Second-hand Guns vs. New IOF Guns

Keeping a 3-4 lakh gun is like keeping a prized valuable possession. Not sure if i will feel easy to keeping such an expensive thing on me when i will have to worry abt keeping the gun safe rather than the gun keeping me safe. I preferred IOF revolver over foreign made for 2 reasons

1) its cheapest revolver you can get with reasonable quality. (it might not be comparable with foreign made but it is good enough for its primary purpose i.e. self defense)

2) if something breaks it can be easily repaired especially in first year of new gun purchase when the IOF replaces it for free ( in warranty period) and i dun think it will cost too much after warranty period expires too.

cheers

As far as the quality of the weapon is concerned there is no panga at all with IOF handguns.
The only thing which hits a little hard is its finish.
But as for the purpose of self defence it is a damn good weapon.

Rudra,
The Munger Rifle Association had held a pistol shooting competition in Patna in 2004.

Did they hold any more events after that ?

They had sold some Eley or RWS .32 Wadcutter cartridges to participants. Were these obtained from NRAI ?

Who are the office bearers for Munger Rifle Association right now. Is it the Munger GUn manf. lobby ?

As I have written earlier,IOF quality is variable. Some guns are OK and some plain rubbish.None can be called good.

Shahid Bhai

The shooting competitions are Organised in Bihar by BSRA Bihar State Rifle Association.
And yes the cartridges are sourced from NRAI.
MRA only once held a National in Munger where for the first time J Rana won a medal.
But yes in state level matches we own the battle field
This year again we are sending a team for the pre nationals (Mavalanker)
